WORK DUTIES Do you want to lead and develop strategically important issues that contribute to creating a vibrant, sustainable and attractive municipality for today's and tomorrow's residents? As unit manager for the Strategy Unit, you will have the opportunity to influence the development of Växjö Municipality and lead work within areas that shape the future of sustainable community development. Together with engaged employees, management group, elected representatives and cooperation partners, you contribute to long-term solutions for the municipality's development. The Strategy Unit is part of the Strategy and Planning department within the Urban Development Administration. The administration is responsible for developing, managing and future-proofing our city, our towns and our countryside. The task ranges from early planning to construction, operation and maintenance of the built environment. The Strategy Unit consists of eight strategists with specialist expertise in areas such as cultural heritage, stormwater and cloudbursts, architecture, ecology and sustainable transport. As unit manager, you lead and further develop the unit's work and are responsible together with your employees for driving strategic and administration-wide issues in areas such as sustainability, climate, architecture, cloudbursts and sustainable transport. You are responsible for ensuring that the unit develops strategies, programs and political plans and ensures that the administration is at the forefront through environmental monitoring, innovation and strategic development. You build and develop collaborations with elected representatives, the municipality's other administrations, the region, the business community and other authorities. The role involves many contact points where cooperation and trusting relationships are crucial for achieving results. As a leader, you create commitment, clarity and involvement. You provide your employees with the conditions to develop and take advantage of the high level of expertise within the unit. You are also responsible for further developing the unit's working methods and competence as well as the administration's work with knowledge forums. As unit manager, you have full responsibility for personnel, work environment and budget. You are part of the management group for Strategy and Planning and report to the department manager. The role involves close collaboration with both the administration's management group and the municipality's political leadership. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who have: • Relevant academic education in urban development, environment, technology or another field that the employer deems relevant. • Several years of work experience in the urban development sector. • Experience of management assignments with personnel responsibility. • Experience working in municipal operations or other politically controlled organization. • Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and English. It is meritorious if you have: • Experience from other municipalities, authorities or regional operations. • Experience from the private sector or business. • Experience working in sustainability, energy or climate transition. • Experience of management group work at administration, corporate or group level.
