We are now seeking a support assistant/support person for our short-term residence Falken. In Östersunds Municipality, we have 3 short-term residences that offer temporary stays away from home for children and young people with disabilities. Falken provides young people between 15-21 years of age opportunities for recreation and a change of environment, while also providing temporary relief for family members. Work hours are scheduled during day, evening, overnight on-call, weekdays, and weekends. Overnight shifts may also occur. You work according to a structured preferred schedule, which gives you the opportunity to influence your schedule in accordance with current guidelines. The position is 86% with the opportunity to work up to 100% in other parts of the disability services sector. Start date by agreement. Your New Job As a support assistant/support person at Falken, you help young people manage their daily lives and the challenges that may arise, both at home and outside the home. Your mission is to create favorable conditions for as independent and meaningful a life as possible, both in daily activities and as preparation for adulthood. The work includes practical support such as cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene, but also pedagogical support through planned activities that strengthen young people's abilities and independence. Leisure time is an important part of the assignment and is shaped according to the young people's needs, interests, and wishes. Activities may consist of games, play, outings, bus rides, shopping, and cooking and take place both indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather. You are part of a team where cooperation, responsibility-taking, and flexibility are crucial. Work is carried out in close collaboration with colleagues, support educators, guardians, habilitation services, and child and adolescent psychiatry. To create security and predictability, you work with clarifying pedagogy, including through planning boards and picture support. We place great emphasis on good treatment and a low-affect approach. You work from a KASAM-inspired perspective, where comprehensibility, manageability, and meaningfulness are central components. The work also uses alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) and signs (TAKK), adapted to each young person. Daily documentation occurs in several different systems and is an important part of the work. We prefer that you have training in care, education, or social work.
