Solskiftet Short-Term Residential Program is now seeking a secure, experienced, and engaged support assistant who wants to help create meaningful, developmental, and predictable days for children and young people with various disabilities. With us, you will become an important part of a competent work team where we work together to ensure that each child and young person feels secure, included, and joyful during their stay. Your New Job Solskiftet is a short-term program for children and young people with intellectual disabilities, autism, or autism-like conditions. We also serve children and young people with various additional disabilities, such as epilepsy, communication difficulties, and mobility impairments. Short-term supervision is aimed at school-age young people with special needs and offers safe, active, and meaningful leisure time after school ends and during school breaks, teacher planning days, and study days. Activities are conducted in groups adapted to the children's and young people's ages, needs, and individual circumstances. The program uses clarifying pedagogy to create a daily routine that is predictable, understandable, and manageable. The program is located in a quiet residential area in Åkersberga, near forests, natural areas, a playground, and stables. Here we offer an active and meaningful leisure time in as home-like an environment as possible. Activities are adapted to each individual's interests, needs, and circumstances and can range from play, creative activities, and community to outdoor activities and excursions. Solskiftet has three departments, one of which is specially adapted for children and young people with extensive and lasting disabilities. The program is staffed around the clock. Your Profile As a support assistant, you work closely with the children and young people, providing individually adapted support in daily life. You help create structure, security, and predictability and assist each individual in developing their independence according to their own circumstances. The work involves, among other things, that you: provide pedagogical and practical support in everyday situations plan and implement meaningful activities work with clarifying pedagogy and individually adapted communication prevent and manage challenging and acting-out behaviors in a safe and professional manner work actively using a low-affective approach participate in work with implementation plans, documentation, and follow-up collaborate with colleagues, guardians, school, and other important people around the child or young person carry out care services based on individual needs You may also take on the role of contact person, which involves special responsibility for following the child's or young person's well-being, development, and individual goals. You find it easy to build trusting relationships and understand that behaviors are often a way of expressing needs, feelings, or difficulties. To succeed in this role, you need to be able to stay calm, adapt your approach, and work preventatively. You are clear without being confrontational and can adjust when a situation changes. We place great emphasis on you: having experience working with children or young people with intellectual disabilities, autism, or related disabilities having good experience preventing and managing acting-out or otherwise challenging behaviors having knowledge of and practical experience with low-affective approaches being able to work in a structured manner with clarity, predictability, and individual adaptations having good ability to communicate and collaborate being responsible, solution-focused, and professional being able to reflect on your own approach and contribute to your work team's shared development You need to be attentive to small signals and at the same time be able to make confident decisions when the situation requires it. An unpretentious approach and a willingness to collaborate are crucial, as we succeed best when we work together. Qualifications We are looking for someone with relevant education in care, health, pedagogy, or social work, such as support assistant, support pedagogue, nursing assistant, childcare worker, or other education that the employer considers equivalent. It is advantageous if you have: training in low-affective approaches knowledge of clarifying pedagogy experience with alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) knowledge of autism, intellectual disabilities, and neuropsychiatric disabilities experience with social documentation and work based on implementation plans experience with epilepsy, mobility impairments, or extensive care needs B-level driver's license A driver's license is a requirement because the work may involve driving the program's vehicles for activities, excursions, and other individually adapted services. You need to be able to express yourself well in Swedish in both speech and writing, as communication, documentation, and collaboration are important parts of the work.
