Job Description
Do you want to make a difference as a support assistant for people living in BmSS, Housing with Special Services? We are now seeking a support assistant for a temporary position who wants to provide support to people in their daily lives, both at home and in the community.
Falken's service housing is an LSS residential facility for adults, both women and men, with psychiatric functional variations. The housing consists of 16 apartments in a multi-unit building with a common area. The staff team consists of 9 support assistants and a support pedagogue. Now we are looking for you who wants to make a difference for those we are here to support. Your placement during the temporary position will be at Falken, but if needed, you may need to step in and work at the nearby workplace, Frödinsgatan's service housing. The temporary position is for one year with start as soon as possible.
Some of us encounter barriers when the world is not designed for how we function. As a support assistant, your role is to support residents in participation and create opportunities for them to influence decisions and services. You provide daily support with everything from communication, stimulation of leisure activities to household chores. You collaborate with other people around the resident such as guardians, social workers, family members, and healthcare providers. The work includes social documentation and medication management according to delegation.
By establishing and following implementation plans, you ensure that residents' needs are in focus. They receive a safe home with the opportunity to live like everyone else. Your role includes motivating residents in their daily lives. As a support assistant, you make it possible for our residents to develop and grow. All social documentation takes place in the documentation system Treserva. If you have not previously used the systems used within the City of Gothenburg, you will receive training in these.
Housing with Special Services offers support around the clock. We are based on residents' needs and need to adapt working hours accordingly. Working hours are scheduled for daytime and evening, sleeping on-call shifts, and working every other weekend. We use Time Care Planning for activity-adapted and flexible schedules.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a degree from the Care and Welfare Program, support assistant training, or the Children and Leisure Program with a focus on social or pedagogical work. The educational requirement is also met if you have a post-secondary specialization within the disability field covering at least 200 vocational credits, 120 higher education credits, or a combination thereof equivalent to at least four terms of full-time studies. Alternatively, 60 higher education credits and at least two years of experience working with support and services for people with disabilities. The education should include relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
Communication is an important part of the work, which requires that you have passed Swedish 1 or Swedish as a Second Language 1. If you do not meet this requirement, you may be offered a language test. You have experience supporting people with both mental (such as psychotic disorders and schizophrenia) and physical functional variations. It is meritorious if you have experience and knowledge of LAB, ESL, MI, and VSS. It is desirable to have a Category B driver's license and driving experience as our users have activities outside the home.
As a person, you are friendly and helpful to others even in stressful situations. You listen, show respect, and work to ensure that the user gets what they need. You collaborate and understand the shared mission. You do this by planning, organizing, and prioritizing work efficiently and ensuring that work is completed on time and following up on results.
