Then we are the workplace for you. Gävle Municipality has two residential facilities for children, one located in Hille and one in Södra Bomhus, with a total capacity of seven children/youth. With us, you get a job with a golden edge - you become an important person in children and youth's lives. At our LSS residences, children/youth with severe functional disabilities live full-time. You follow and support their lives closely and relationships are built deeply. You need to be their safe point, but often also their driving force. You should meet our children/youth with empathy and respect, regardless of their behavior, which is of utmost importance. This means you need to maintain professional distance to avoid being personally affected by emotional reactions. Your work tasks include: • Ensuring that children/youth receive the support they need based on their specific needs. • Close collaboration with the children's/youth's guardians and other actors such as school, child and youth rehabilitation, or adult rehabilitation. • Using different alternative communication methods such as TAKK, picture schedules, TD Snap (Pratis) and/or Widgit. • All work is planned based on the children's/youth's implementation plans; you should be able to work independently but also together with colleagues. • Take responsibility, step forward and be flexible when things change quickly. When challenges arise in the children's or youth's lives, you need to be the one who guides forward in a clear and safe way. The work can be challenging and some of the children/youth may have challenging and externalizing behavior that you must be able to meet with professionalism and compassion. You participate and support the children/youth in all the residence's tasks as well as indoor and outdoor activities. We work together, support each other, and have plenty of laughter, outings, and other fun activities with the children and youth. There is also room to grow here. You document your work in social records and write and update action plans. You have a responsibility to plan, implement, and document your work according to applicable procedures and to evaluate and update as needed. QUALIFICATIONS Formal competencies: • An approved education as a support assistant, social pedagogue, or education from the care and nursing program, or the child and leisure program with a focus on social work. • You must have at least two years of experience working at residential facilities with special services for children or youth according to LSS (child residential home), short-term homes for children or youth according to LSS, or group homes for adults under LSS. • We also want you to have experience or training in alternative communication methods such as TAKK, picture schedules, TD Snap (Pratis), Widgit. • You should be able to maintain social documentation and have good computer skills. • Class B driver's license, as you often drive children/youth on outings and do other activities. Merits: • If you have training or experience in low-affect handling. • If you have experience using digital tools, smartphones, tablets, etc. To succeed in the role: • You handle stress constructively and maintain a good mood under pressure and setbacks. • Listening, showing empathy and respect are self-evident for you while you are unpretentious and notice and reward others' contributions. • You meet our children/youth professionally and empathetically regardless of their behavior and avoid being personally affected. You are a person who inspires confidence, creates credibility and trust, and has the ability to spread calm and stability. In your collaboration with others, you have an unpretentious approach with focus on the common goal. Furthermore, you adapt to different situations and have the ability to change your perspective and approach. To be eligible for the position, you must be able to present an extract from the criminal record register to work with children with disabilities.
