The Eye Clinic in Västmanland is looking for you to become a specialist doctor in ophthalmology. Job Responsibilities As you complete specialty training with us, you will take on all standard responsibilities of an aspiring ophthalmologist. You will work daytime shifts at our clinic and also be part of our on-call service during evenings and nights with support from the backup on-call team. You will supervise trainee doctors and medical students. During your employment, you will work together with the study director and main supervisor to develop a plan for courses and clinical training. About the Workplace The Eye Clinic is region-wide and includes units in Västerås, Köping, Sala, and Fagersta. The majority of operations are based at Västmanlands Hospital in Västerås. We are approximately 65 employees consisting of doctors, nurses, orthoptists, optometrist, opticians, nursing assistants, medical secretaries, and administrative staff. The clinic has a total of 15 doctors, of which ten are specialists and five are specialty doctors. We offer a broad range of services including pediatric ophthalmology, plastic surgery, glaucoma, and medical retina. Our surgical department performs cataract surgery, eyelid/tear duct surgery, glaucoma surgery, and corneal cross-linking. We also have extensive anti-VEGF injection therapy services. The clinic is well-equipped with, for example, YAG and SLT lasers, multispot/micropulse lasers, retinal lasers with eyetracker for retinal treatment, and a PDT laser. We also have Pentacam, OCT, angio-OCT, and ultrasound equipment. Qualifications We are looking for you who are a licensed doctor and have completed AT or BT training. If you are nearing the end of your AT or BT training, you are also welcome to apply. For this position, you need to have worked as a doctor in Swedish healthcare for at least six months and have a good understanding of how the healthcare system works. To ensure high patient safety and good quality of care, you are thorough and accurate in your medical documentation. Since the work involves communicating with patients, relatives, and colleagues, we see that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. This training position is a long-term investment, so we view it as a plus if you have local ties to Västmanland. You are a confident, stable, and attentive person. Furthermore, you have a positive attitude and find it easy to build trust with both patients and colleagues. Since the role involves close collaboration with different professional groups, we see that you work well with others. You have a good ability to work independently and drive work forward, where you take responsibility for your own development and meeting goals.
