Duties The position is located at the Emergency Department of Halland Hospital Varberg. Your responsibilities will include managing all types of patients seeking emergency care, including pediatric patients. Supervision of AT doctors and other non-licensed physicians is part of the role. We encourage you to actively contribute to the clinic's development. Education These positions are structured as standard ST positions combining clinical work and training. A significant portion of the service time is allocated as supplementary training at other clinics within and outside the hospital. An individual ST plan will be developed in consultation with your supervisor, study rector, and medical director. In-house training is offered approximately 12 days per year, supplemented by external courses as needed to meet the ST specialty requirements in emergency medicine. During ST training, you are expected to begin SWESEM's specialist examination, and in-house training is designed to provide the necessary foundation for this. About the Workplace Halland Hospital encompasses acute care hospitals in Halmstad and Varberg, and we also provide planned care services in Kungsbacka and Falkenberg. The Acute Clinic at Halland Hospital is its own clinic, consisting of emergency departments in Halmstad and Varberg. Emergency physicians have been available in Varberg since 2003. The Emergency Department at Halland Hospital Varberg has approximately 44,000 visits annually. The clinic has 15 emergency medicine specialists, 9 ST doctors at various stages of specialist training, and 6 associate physicians. We treat acute patients across all specialties and age groups. As of 2025, the Acute Clinic's physicians have taken over physician staffing responsibility at the Varberg Emergency Department. We maintain an education-friendly culture with good collegiality, as evidenced by excellent feedback from AT doctors. The clinic has made progress in developing emergency physician services, but significant development potential remains, offering excellent opportunities to help shape the future of emergency care based on your own expertise, interests, and the department's needs. Qualifications We seek a licensed physician with some experience in emergency medicine. Previous start of ST training or specialist training in another relevant specialty is considered meritorious. The position requires excellent teamwork skills and a collaborative attitude, as you will work in a team with physician colleagues, nurses, nurse assistants, and medical secretaries. Proficiency in Swedish is an absolute requirement. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
