At Lasarettet i Ystad, approximately 5,000 surgical operations are performed annually in surgery, urology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, and gynecology. Half of these are emergency operations, and within our broad elective operations, it's worth noting that Ystad is one of Sweden's largest colorectal cancer centers, where approximately 200 patients are operated on per year with excellent results. The operational area provides both outpatient and inpatient care in surgery, urology, orthopedics, and otolaryngology, and has two inpatient wards. The operational area also includes intensive and perioperative care. Within surgery, 14 senior physicians/specialist physicians and seven ST doctors work. Employees' active engagement in influencing the department's development is part of our way of working, which creates a welcoming work environment in a department with good atmosphere and high ambitions. DUTIES We are now seeking licensed physicians for the surgery section within the Operational Area of Surgery, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, and Intensive and Perioperative Care. We offer a permanent position for an ST doctor and two locum positions for licensed physicians, with good opportunities for permanent employment. Your tasks include on-call duty at the emergency department, surgery, ward duty, and outpatient work. As primary on-call, you are responsible for acute conditions within several surgical specialties, including urology, orthopedics, and otolaryngology (ENT). For the ST position, you will be offered a mentor, relevant courses within the framework of specialist training, and the opportunity to complete the side placements required to become a specialist in general surgery. Approximately 1.5 years of ST training will be completed at another hospital within Region Skåne. QUALIFICATIONS We welcome you as a licensed physician with authorization to practice in Swedish healthcare. Swedish language skills at level C1 or higher according to the Council of Europe scale are a requirement. As a person, we see that you have good communication skills where you convey knowledge and messages in a clear and pedagogical manner. We value good collaboration skills and a willingness to drive operations forward in a positive spirit. To succeed in this role, you should have a good ability to work independently and have good patient interaction. Experience in general surgery as a licensed physician and experience working as a sole surgical on-call physician are clearly meriting factors. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
