Welcome to Lycksele Hospital, a small and modern acute care hospital in the inland region of Västerbotten! We have a good collaborative climate between the hospital's clinics and primary care. Together, we serve approximately 40,000 residents across an area the size of Switzerland.
We are now seeking a Surgical Resident (ST) for the Department of Surgery, Southern Lapland. The clinic includes surgical and orthopedic services, operating room, outpatient clinic with endoscopy, emergency department, intensive care, and ambulance helicopter services. We provide both planned and acute care. We perform most types of acute surgical and orthopedic procedures. Our regional specialties are bariatric surgery, hernia repair, and prosthetic surgery.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Surgical Resident with us, you will contribute your knowledge and commitment, helping people feel secure.
As a Surgical Resident at the clinic, you will quickly become part of the team. Together with your supervisor, you will plan your training to take on responsibility and grow in your role as a future surgeon. Most of your residency training will be completed in Lycksele, with rotation periods in collaboration with the Department of Surgery at Norrlands University Hospital in Umeå and its various sections. Since we operate as a combined surgical, orthopedic, and urological clinic, you will also develop skills in managing acute conditions within these areas. On-call duties at the emergency department and hospital are part of the position, where we operate a joint on-call system with at least one licensed physician working alongside a junior resident.
Beyond the specialty-specific program, you will also participate in the EKA training program as a Surgical Resident. A program focused on leadership, economics, communication, administration, ethics, and personal reflection time for residents within Region Västerbotten.
QUALIFICATIONS
You hold a Swedish medical license with authorization to practice in Swedish healthcare by the start date. You have an interest in specializing in surgery. We require proficiency in Swedish at level C1.
You are communicative and contribute strong collaboration skills and a relationship-oriented approach.
