Hällsboskolan Mälarhöjden in Stockholm welcomes students with severe language disorders from preschool class through grade 2. Our instruction focuses on language and communication. The goal is for students to gain the conditions to reach knowledge objectives, be active and involved in various social contexts, and develop as individuals. Hällsboskolan Mälarhöjden welcomes students with severe language disorders and operates at two school locations in Stockholm, one in Mälarhöjden and one in Södermalm. The school recently established a new branch and is entering an exciting development phase. For the 2027/2028 school year, both school units will move to new, modern facilities in Rönninge in Salem Municipality. At the same time, the operations will gradually expand with classes up to grade 10. All our schools offer after-school activities. We follow students' development throughout their school years and offer a work environment where collaboration, engagement, and development are a natural part of daily life. JOB DUTIES As a special education specialist at Hällsboskolan Mälarhöjden branch in Södermalm in Stockholm and later at Hällsboskolan Rönninge in Salem Municipality, you work to create the best possible conditions for students' learning, health, and development. You contribute your special education expertise in preventive and promotional work as well as in the school's systematic quality work. The assignment includes conducting pedagogical assessments, identifying students' need for special support, and planning, implementing, and following up interventions at the individual, group, and organizational levels. You also work with instruction and support measures within the framework of special support, both individually and in groups. An important part of the position is to mentor and support teachers and other staff on special education issues and to plan and implement collaborative learning initiatives. You work closely with student health services, school leadership, and other professionals to ensure an accessible learning environment where students with severe language disorders are given the conditions to progress as far as possible in their knowledge development. We are looking for someone with strong commitment to students in need of special support, good collaborative skills, and a solution-focused approach. You are flexible, organized, and actively contribute to the continued development of the operation. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team and have support from teacher assistants, special education specialists, counselors, psychologists, school nurses, and speech-language pathologists. We want our students, when they leave Hällsboskolan, to have developed strategies and tools that equip them to take the next step in life. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who: - has teacher training for older age groups - has special education teacher training or special education specialist training - has taught students with language disorders and/or other neuropsychiatric diagnoses - has worked in a role where you have mentored staff in the special education field - has strong skills in Swedish language, both spoken and written - can confidently use ICT tools in your instruction It is advantageous if you: - have experience working with students in adapted primary school or special instruction groups - have competence in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) - have competence in NPF (neuropsychiatric assessment) We are looking for someone who is engaged, responsive, and has a genuine interest in meeting each student according to their needs and conditions. You have a relational approach and contribute to safe and accessible learning environments where students can develop. You are organized and responsible, while also being flexible and able to adapt instruction and work methods based on students' needs and the operation's development. You have good collaborative skills and enjoy working in a team with different professionals. You communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, guardians, and other stakeholders.
