Student Wellness Services in preschool and primary school work in teams consisting of a school nurse, school counselor, school psychologist, school special education teacher, and principal. We work based on the intentions of the Education Act. Student Wellness Services should primarily work in a health-promoting and preventive manner, at individual, group, and organizational levels, to support students toward educational goals. Student Wellness Services, Competence Center for Language and Communication is seeking an engaged special education teacher or specialist who wants to help develop language support work in Umeå municipality's schools. Your responsibilities You will be part of an interdisciplinary team alongside other special education personnel and speech-language pathologists with the mission to support schools in working with language accessibility. Through training and coaching for teachers and educational staff, you contribute to promoting health and learning for students in relation to instruction and governing documents. It is self-evident to consider students' perspectives and opportunities for participation and influence in their education. Part of your mission is to support schools in implementing and working toward established goals for language development and accessibility, as well as to monitor and evaluate these interventions. When working with individual students, this may involve providing support in assessing language needs and proposing interventions within both regular instruction and specialized support. This is done in close collaboration with relevant teachers and student wellness teams at the direction of the principal, who leads and sets the framework for the interventions. Within your mission, there are good opportunities for development and to shape special education interventions. About you We are looking for you with a genuine commitment to student development and learning. You are solution-focused, flexible in your work, and confident in your professional role. You also have good collaboration skills and are communicative, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. You also have full proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written. We place great importance on personal suitability. Requirements - Degree as a special education teacher or specialist with advanced study in language, reading, and writing development - Licensed teacher with credentials in primary school - Experience teaching in primary school - Experience in special education work that includes coaching and student wellness work at the organizational level - Experience with and knowledge of language disorders (DLD), specific learning disorders, and reading and writing difficulties related to instruction and learning Meritorious Competence and experience in the following areas related to language accessibility and a language support perspective: - Multilingual development and Swedish as a second language - Digital learning resources in relation to instruction and learning - Planning and leading development work - Experience organizing interventions related to instruction for gifted students We welcome your application!
