Welcome to us Our special education teacher is now moving on to new challenges, and we're seeking a playful, engaged, and experienced team member to join us. Stockholm's habilitation unit serves children with motor disabilities ages 2–6 years. Children receive intensive habilitation two days per week in groups of five. Children come to the unit with a pedagogue from their preschool. During the week, the unit receives two child groups. Children are referred from the Region's habilitation center, which transfers habilitation responsibility during one or more training periods (terms). You can read more about us on our website. What we offer Fun and varied work in close collaboration with a team consisting of an occupational therapist, a speech-language pathologist, two physiotherapists, and another special education teacher. Your role The goal of special education interventions is to create favorable conditions for the child's development, learning, independence, and participation. The special education teacher plans and leads groups together with team colleagues and collaborates with the speech-language pathologist regarding children's communication and alternative communication methods. Coaching colleagues, preschool staff, and guardians on approaches, child development, and pedagogical matters is also part of the job. Your competence and experience We're looking for you who are a special education teacher or have education deemed equivalent by the employer. You have experience working with young children with motor and communication differences. As a special education teacher with us, you need knowledge of and experience with: Working with preschool children Motor disabilities Intellectual disabilities Autism and autism-like conditions Alternative and augmentative communication, such as TAKK and graphic AAC, e.g., PODD Vision and hearing-related issues The position includes both administration (record-keeping, etc.) and contact with many different people, which means you need strong ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing. You are comfortable leading groups with children and accompanying adults. You are creative, playful, and open to finding new solutions in your work with children and their networks, and you have experience with teamwork.
