About the Workplace At Ängås School, we are building something together. We are currently developing a school where teaching, student well-being, safety, and leadership are interconnected, and where the path from discovery to action is short. A central principle is that student well-being should be close to students and close to teaching. We do not want student well-being work to consist mainly of meetings where we talk about students. Above all, it should lead to concrete action for the student in their daily life. Therefore, we work with operational student well-being as a step before cases reach the student well-being professionals. This means we want to identify needs early, gather the right expertise quickly, decide what to do, and then follow up to see if it actually works. When needed, student well-being professionals should be able to move out into the school activities – into the classroom, work teams, mentors, and with individual students. We believe difficulties arise in context. When a student struggles, our first question is not only "What does the student need to practice?" but also: What can we adults change in our teaching, learning environment, organization, or interactions to give the student better conditions to succeed? Ängås School is an F–9 school (grades pre-K through 9), and this position is placed within grades 7–9. We have high ambitions and also areas for development that we do not try to hide. Study environment, attendance, accessible learning environments, and teaching that meets students' different needs are some of the areas we actively work on. This means you are coming to a school where there is much to contribute – and where your special education expertise will be important. Your Tasks We are not looking for a special education teacher who mainly receives ready-made student cases. We are looking for you to be involved before they become cases. As a special education teacher, you will therefore be an important part of Ängås student well-being, and you will lead the operational student well-being work and work closely with the principal, teachers, mentors, and other student well-being professionals. Your assignment exists at the individual, group, and organizational levels, but with a clear focus on preventive and developmental work. You will, among other things: · Be an active special education resource in the school's operational student well-being work · Work closely with work teams, teachers, and mentors · Observe teaching and learning environments when needed · Coach teachers and work teams and together develop concrete pedagogical strategies · Contribute to developing accessible teaching for students with different needs · Together with teachers, analyze situations where students risk not meeting their goals · Contribute to the school's work on attendance and study environment · Conduct and support pedagogical assessments and evaluations · Contribute to work with accommodations, specialized support, and intervention plans · Follow up on implemented interventions and help us answer the most important question: Did it make a difference for the student? · Identify recurring patterns and bring them forward from the individual level to development of teaching and organization · Contribute special education expertise to the school's systematic quality work. Documentation is a necessary and important part of the assignment. But documentation is never the goal. The goal is change for the student. An evaluation should help us understand what we need to do. An intervention plan should lead to action. An observation should contribute to better teaching. A student well-being meeting should result in someone knowing what needs to be done, by whom, and when we will follow up. That is how we want student well-being to function at Ängås. About You We are looking for you who have special education training. You have experience in educational work and good knowledge of the school's governing documents, accommodations, specialized support, and student well-being work. Experience from the upper grades of elementary school and knowledge of NPF and accessible learning environments are merits. But education and experience are only part of what we are looking for. You also need to share our view of students. We believe in high expectations and the right support. We believe in the importance of relationships for learning. And we believe that the adult world needs to be prepared to change its own approach when what we do does not work for the student. Therefore, we are looking for you who are curious rather than judgmental. You need to be able to move from analysis to action and from action to follow-up. You are comfortable leaving your office and going into a classroom. You can sit beside a teacher and together think about what you can try as early as the next lesson. You also dare to ask professional questions: Why does this work for some students but not others? What happens just before the situation becomes difficult? What can we change? And how do we know if our intervention works? We are looking for you who want to be involved in developing, not just maintaining.
