Habilitering & Hälsa offers specialized care and support to individuals with permanent disabilities; including reduced ability to communicate, see, hear, or move. Do you want to make a difference for individuals with disabilities? Welcome to Habilitering & Hälsa, part of Västra Götalandsregionen. Together we have the power to create change. The DeafBlind Team is a regional specialist team. The team provides services to individuals of all ages with deafblindness or combined severe vision and hearing impairments. The patient group consists of individuals with early/congenital or acquired deafblindness, of all ages - each person with unique needs. We work from a holistic perspective in a multiprofessional team consisting of a social worker, psychologist, audiologist, vision educator, communication specialist, and special education teacher. Together we plan and implement habilitation and rehabilitation services, individually or in groups. The work includes collaboration with partner care facilities and providing information about the needs of our target group. We are now seeking a special education teacher who wants to work with us and develop these services for our patients. Duties We can offer you stimulating and exciting work alongside dedicated and competent colleagues. The work is flexible with varying tasks. As a special education teacher on the team, you will work with deafblind-specific habilitation/rehabilitation with a focus on children and young people, their families, and loved ones. Our services require a high degree of individual adaptation based on each person's circumstances. Using evidence-based methods, educational interventions are designed based on the consequences of deafblindness, with special focus on communication and access to information. Patient work is performed both at the clinic and in the patient's home and local environment. To thrive with us, you need to appreciate a mobile work approach, as services are often provided in the part of Västra Götalandsregionen where the patient lives. The work also includes coordinating services, collaboration with municipal activities such as childcare and schools, and guidance regarding deafblindness. The special education teacher has a natural role in many of our group rehabilitation services. It is important that you enjoy working both individually and as part of a team, and often in collaboration with family members, staff, and/or other activities in society. Qualifications Special education teacher degree. You are fluent in sign language. Experience with and knowledge of deafblindness is meritorious, as is knowledge of socio-haptic signals and alternative communication methods.
