About the Organization Bergslena Adapted Upper Secondary School offers national and individual programs. The adapted upper secondary school is a 4-year secondary education for students with intellectual disabilities. The school consists of various units located throughout Borås City. We are a smaller organization and we work closely with those we serve. In the Individual Program, students study six subject areas, and in the National Program, we offer six vocational programs. We work to ensure that students become employable within their chosen vocational direction or make as much progress as possible in their knowledge development. The atmosphere is characterized by a safe learning environment and a professional perspective on the target group and their knowledge development. Before and after school hours, Bergslena Upper Secondary School units offer short-term supervision for students. Job Responsibilities As a teacher in the national program, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and developing instruction based on subject curricula. You create an accessible and stimulating learning environment where each student has the opportunity to develop according to their individual conditions and needs. The assignment also includes actively working with digital tools to strengthen student learning and participation, as well as promoting the importance of digitalization for the target group. Your work tasks include, among others: teaching in the upper secondary common subjects adapting instruction, working methods, and learning environment according to students' individual needs and conditions planning, implementing, following up, and analyzing your own instruction as well as students' knowledge development cooperating with colleagues, student assistants, guardians, and other professions regarding student development Qualifications We are looking for someone with a primary school teacher degree or other relevant teacher education. It is an asset if you also have a special education teacher degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities. You have good knowledge of AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication) and experience with instruction in adapted school settings. Experience working with students with autism and other additional diagnoses is an asset. As a person, you are engaged, creative, and solution-focused. You easily build good relationships, take own initiative, and can work both independently and together with others. You see possibilities in challenges and have good understanding of how digital tools can contribute to student learning, communication, and independence. For this position, we view your ability to collaborate with teaching colleagues, student assistants, and other functions within the organization as an important competence.
