About the Organization
Bergslenagymnasiet Adapted Upper Secondary School offers national and individual programs. The adapted upper secondary school is a 4-year upper secondary education for students with intellectual disabilities. The school consists of different units distributed throughout Borås City. We are a smaller organization and work closely with those we serve.
In the Individual Program, students study six subject areas, and in the National Program, we offer six vocational programs. We work to make students employable within their chosen vocational field or help them reach as far as possible in their knowledge development. The climate is characterized by a safe learning environment and a professional approach to our target group and their knowledge development.
Before and after school hours, Bergslenagymnasiet's units offer short-term supervision for students.
Job Responsibilities
As a teacher in the individual program, you are responsible for planning, implementing, developing, and documenting teaching based on the subject area plans such as language and communication, nature and environment, individual and society, physical education and health, home and consumer science, and aesthetic activities. You create an accessible and stimulating learning environment where each student has the opportunity to develop according to their individual conditions and needs. The role also includes actively working with digital tools to strengthen students' learning and participation and to promote the importance of digitalization for our target group.
Your work tasks include, among other things:
adapting teaching, methods, and learning environment to students' individual needs and conditions
planning, implementing, following up, and analyzing your own teaching and students' knowledge development
collerating with colleagues, student assistants, guardians, and other professionals around students' development
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with an elementary school teacher degree, preschool teacher degree, or other relevant teacher education. It is meriting if you also have a special education degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities.
You have good knowledge of AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication) and experience with teaching in adapted school settings. Experience working with students with autism and other co-occurring diagnoses is meriting.
As a person, you are engaged, creative, and solution-focused. You find it easy to build good relationships, take initiative, and can work both independently and with others. You see possibilities in challenges and have good understanding of how digital tools can contribute to students' learning, communication, and independence.
For this position, we view your ability to collaborate with teaching colleagues, student assistants, and other functions within the organization as important competence.
A B driver's license is required as parts of the teaching and student learning take place in various environments out in the community.
