Job Duties We're seeking an engaged and competent special educator or teacher with qualifications in Swedish as a Second Language who wants to be a central part of the school's special education work. Your primary assignment will be with grades 4–6. In this position, you'll be part of the school's special education team where you work together with the special educator, student health services, mentors, and subject teachers to create the best possible conditions for student learning and goal achievement. Your Assignment Your primary focus is Swedish as a Second Language and language-strengthening initiatives. You'll work both directly with students and consultatively with teaching staff to develop an accessible and language-developing learning environment. Your duties include: Teaching Swedish as a Second Language Assessing, monitoring, and analyzing student language development Planning and implementing targeted language-strengthening initiatives Coaching and support for mentors and subject teachers on language-development approaches Collaboration within the school's special education team and student health services Contributing to the school's systematic quality work focused on language, inclusion, and accessible instruction Participating in transitions and welcoming newly arrived students when needed We're Looking for Someone Who Is a certified teacher with qualifications in Swedish as a Second Language and/or a special education degree Has strong knowledge of second language development and language-developing instruction Has the ability to analyze student needs and translate them into concrete pedagogical interventions Values close collaboration with mentors, subject teachers, and other professionals at the school Is relationship-oriented, organized, and has a solution-focused approach Has an inclusive perspective where student strengths and potential are central Personal Qualities To succeed in this role, you need to be responsive, collaborative, and proactive. You find it easy to build trusting relationships with both students and colleagues and are driven by developing instruction that strengthens students' language, learning, and participation.
