We offer you Nyströmska is an education center centrally located in Söderköping with upper secondary students, adapted upper secondary, adapted primary school grades 7-9, and adult education. The school has a dedicated staff team, many of whom have worked here for a long time. We are now seeking a special education teacher specializing in intellectual disabilities for our team, with responsibility for teaching mathematics and natural sciences to our students in the adapted upper secondary school's national program Health, Care and Social Services, as well as special education duties in grades 7-9. We prioritize knowledge and education and our goal is for our students to develop as far as possible based on their abilities. With the motto "Close to You. Always." the focus at Nyströmska is to see each student, to help them grow as individuals together, and to prepare them for their future. In the adapted school, we currently have 10 students in the Health, Care and Social Services program and 4 students in grades 2 and 4 in the individual program. In adapted primary school grades 7-9, there are currently 18 students studying focused subjects or subject areas. You will be part of the adapted upper secondary school team. The school has several experienced colleagues in adapted education, as well as a development teacher specializing in adapted school from preschool to adult education. The school has an engaged student support team consisting of principals, special education teachers/special pedagogues, study and career counselors, counselors, and school nurses. Job Description In your role as a special education teacher, you will teach mathematics and natural sciences in the adapted upper secondary school's national program for Health, Care and Social Services and provide special education support to students in adapted primary school grades 7-9. The position includes your own planning, teaching, and assessment. You will be part of the adapted upper secondary school team but will work closely with your colleagues in both settings. Qualifications We are primarily seeking you as a licensed teacher with a special education diploma, specializing in intellectual disabilities, with teacher training in mathematics and natural sciences as a foundation. You have experience working in adapted schools, knowledge of students with intellectual and neuropsychiatric disabilities, and the pedagogical tools needed to support them. You have good knowledge of alternative and augmentative communication and are an experienced user of assistive technology. You have worked on making lesson content accessible, for example through visual supports. You are well acquainted with the school's governing documents and work based on students' needs and interests. Your teaching is creative and aims to find strategies to strengthen your students, both academically and in their personal development. It is important to you to create conditions for good social interaction among students. In your professional role, you are also expected to be able to collaborate with other professional disciplines and guardians, always with the student's best interests in focus. We are looking for someone equipped with good social competence and collaboration skills. You are creative, solution-oriented, and responsive to students' individual circumstances. You create engagement and participation for both colleagues and students. You must be calm and pedagogical with great patience and a strong ability to create a sense of security for each student. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
