Your Assignment As a special education teacher, you'll work with students in grades 1–9 who need particular support. Another special education teacher works at the school, with whom you collaborate closely and share responsibility. Together with teachers, students, and guardians, you create the best conditions for student learning through support measures, adaptations, and strong relationships. As a special education teacher, you actively teach and support students through individually tailored interventions in the classroom, in small groups, and one-on-one. You're also responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating instruction based on curriculum and school law. With confidence and commitment, you guide and support colleagues and work teams, and contribute specialized pedagogical expertise regarding adaptations, teaching strategies, and learning environments. You stay updated on current special education research and share your theoretical knowledge and pedagogical expertise. You observe, document, follow up, write action plans, apply for additional funding, and create intervention programs and pedagogical assessments of students' need for particular support. You also conduct and analyze screenings and other assessments. Work happens in close collaboration with the special education team, teachers, school leadership, and the student welfare team. Together you work across professions on intervention, promotion, and prevention measures based on student needs. You lead meetings with students and guardians to inform them about and discuss chosen measures, and you collaborate on student needs with other actors, both within and outside school. Your Experience For this position, you must have: - Teacher certification with a specialized degree in special education, specializing in language, writing, and reading development or mathematics development - Experience working as a teacher in lower and/or middle grades - Experience working as a special education teacher in language, writing, and reading development and/or mathematics - Knowledge of and experience identifying needs and documenting support measures, such as pedagogical assessments and intervention programs - Good digital skills and experience working with digital pedagogical tools - Strong ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written It's a merit if you also have experience mentoring teachers. What We Offer Älta Resource School is a new facility for students with various NPF diagnoses in grades 1–9. The school opened in August 2025 and has space for approximately 40 students. We're located in the scenic Älta area with proximity to sea, lakes, and forest, as well as good connections to Slussen, Nacka, and Värmdö. The facility is housed in part of the newly built Stavsberg School, with its own entrance and beautiful, modern, and purpose-built spaces for instruction, recreation, and meals.
