Special Education Teacher (Language or Mathematics) - we're looking for you!
Distra Gymnasium is a small upper secondary school in Örnsberg.
We are now seeking a special education teacher. All specializations are welcome to apply - however, we will first look at candidates who specialize in mathematics or language.
As the person we hire, you will have significant responsibility for managing the school's studio - our special education program where 1-8 students participate. There you will support students in their schoolwork and coordinate efforts between teaching staff and special support services.
You are expected to take an active role in educational assessments and coordinate parts of the administrative work within the student support services framework.
Our focus is on well-being and security where everyone should feel seen and be able to speak up. We have small teaching groups with approximately 15-24 students per group. This gives us greater opportunities to help each student reach their goals.
You should be curious and willing to meet students where they are in their development, and want to create conditions for each student to succeed.
You should be experienced in collaborating with and taking part in the school's student support team. There you represent important expertise and are a key puzzle piece, collaborating with the school's counselor, social pedagogue, special education specialist, principals, and career guidance officer.
In our vocational programs, most of our students have chosen their path based on a specific career, and herein lies your challenge: to dare to challenge and support students in theoretical subjects. With us you will find all types of students - those who need pure skills training and those who need stimulation and challenges.
