Torvallaskolan is a grades 7-9 school with approximately 235 students. Our school is an inspiring workplace where we place the student at the center. Everyone should feel included, responsible, respected, and secure. At Torvallaskolan, we have a positive view of students and high expectations for one another. We employ a language-development approach across all activities and take our roles as adult role models very seriously. Our goal is to work together with parents and students to create a good educational environment with high academic standards and strong social competence that gives our students the best foundation for success in life. Together, we can make a difference every day.
Your New Job
We are now looking for you—a certified special education teacher with subject qualifications primarily in Swedish/Swedish as Second Language (SVA) for grades 7-9. If you also have qualifications in English, that is a plus. Your experience teaching both small and larger groups will be very important for this role, as each year may present different challenges and needs—it is our students' needs that guide our work and the organization's response to them.
You will be part of a team of teachers where you collectively plan and take responsibility for students' education and development. In your role, you will work to some extent with students in our study room (a separate instructional group). Your focus will be on creating the best conditions for each student in a safe and trusting environment. You will support students in their social and academic development. You will challenge students to take their own initiative, develop their interests, and take responsibility for themselves and others. We also have a significant need to provide strong support to our newly arrived students through instruction in SVA and Mother Tongue Swedish (M2SVA).
Your role may also include mentoring some of our students. As a mentor, you will have specific responsibility for a group of students, giving you the opportunity to follow their academic progress and personal development more closely. In your mentor role, you will inform and keep students' guardians updated about their academic development through regular development conversations.
At Torvallaskolan, we offer you exciting assignments, work in modern facilities, and opportunities for professional development.
