Welcome to Berzeliusskolan! Your tasks As a special education teacher, you have an important task in supporting work with students who risk not meeting the nationally set goals. You work with this both through classroom instruction and in individual instruction. As a special education teacher at Berzeliusskolan 7-9, you meet a wide range of students and adapt interventions to their unique needs. You step into a newly established position that represents an expansion of our operations, giving you great opportunity to influence working methods and shape the role. In this position, you are expected to, among other things: Identify, plan, and implement special education interventions in Swedish and language development. Ensure that working methods used are research-based and measurable to as great an extent as possible. Work directly with students and customize accommodations both inside and outside the classroom. Collaborate with mentors, subject teachers, student support services, and school leadership to make instruction accessible. Contribute your specialized expertise to overall student support work. You work closely with three other special education teachers and two special education specialists. The position is placed in the secondary school (grades 7-9) but also includes work at our resource school where we serve students with autism spectrum disorder. Work at the resource school is part of the position and is planned based on operational needs. Your workplace Berzeliusskolan is a modern, newly renovated, and centrally located school in Linköping where knowledge, community, and development are in focus. Here, approximately 2,000 students and around 300 committed staff members meet from secondary grades 7–9 and upper secondary school, with secondary grades 7-9 comprising approximately 750 students and about 100 staff members. With us, you become part of a large team where people work closely together and support one another. You become part of a team consisting of four special education teachers, two specializing in mathematics and two in Swedish, together with special education specialists. Together, you are responsible for developing working methods, collaboration, and structures that ensure students in need of support receive appropriate interventions at the right time. Collaboration and shared responsibility are central, and we see that you together form a clear and sustainable organization around student support. About you You must have teacher certification with qualifications in Swedish in secondary school. We are primarily looking for someone who has a special education teacher diploma with a focus on language, writing, and reading development, or alternatively you are currently studying to become a special education teacher. You must have work experience as a teacher in secondary school. It is an advantage if you have work experience as a special education teacher or with special education tasks. You have good communication skills, both verbal and written, in Swedish. This is so that you, according to the curriculum, can organize and carry out work so that the student is supported in their language and communication development. You have a positive attitude and bring enthusiasm and energy to the work. You have a good ability to create participation in operations and can create and maintain relationships in the workplace. You have good insight into how people acquire knowledge and can adapt your way of conveying messages to others. You communicate in a clear manner. You are confident in yourself and see relationships in their proper perspective. Furthermore, you take responsibility for your task and drive your processes forward.
