Job Responsibilities
As a special education teacher, you will work with our lower elementary grades in a year group consisting of three classes. Together with classroom teachers and lead teachers, you will plan, implement, and evaluate teaching outcomes at both the individual and group levels. You are responsible for student welfare work in your year group together with 3 mentors and a lead teacher.
Together with other special education teachers at the school, you will also work school-wide to develop an accessible learning environment. As a special education teacher, you teach students, work on the learning environment, support teachers with accommodations, conduct assessments of students' need for special support, and write and evaluate support plans. You also collaborate with other student welfare specialists and external partners.
Qualifications
You are a certified elementary teacher for grades 1-3 or grades 4-6 with credentials in at least Swedish as a Second Language and mathematics. You have a special education teacher certification with a focus on language, writing, and reading development. You have worked as a teaching educator at the elementary or middle school level. As a special education teacher, you must be able to teach, monitor, and assess students' language and reading development. Therefore, it is important that you have strong language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.
The school works with developing genre pedagogy and Sigmamatematik. It is a merit if you have knowledge and experience with these. As a team member, you take initiative in your assignment. You find it easy to build relationships and enjoy varied work with significant responsibility. You collaborate easily and are both flexible and curious. In the classroom, you provide clear leadership. Based on evidence-based research, you can develop your work, and with good familiarity with relevant digital tools, you work efficiently.
