We belong to the Thorax and Vascular Operations Area at Skåne University Hospital (Sus). Within the vascular field, we include the Vascular Ward, Vascular Surgery, and Vascular Outpatient Clinic. Together, we provide vascular surgical and vascular medical care for patients with various types of vascular diseases. We are responsible for vascular care in southwestern and central Skåne as well as parts of the highly specialized care in the Southern Healthcare Region. Although we are an organization at the forefront of our field, we are also a relatively small organization. This gives us short decision paths, close collaboration, and a culture characterized by trust and participation. On the Vascular Ward, care flows are often rapid and average length of stay is typically between two and seven days. The most common surgical conditions are carotid stenosis, aortic aneurysm, and claudication/critical ischemia, which are treated with endovascular methods, open surgery, or conservative treatment. Within vascular medical care, the most common diagnoses are pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, and severe hypertension. DUTIES As a specialist nurse, you are responsible for the care of patients with varying lengths of stay in both medical and surgical care. You work with both acute and planned care and perform standard nursing tasks in patient-facing activities. At the same time, you have a special role in strengthening competence and developing nursing care at the ward. You serve as a clinical support for colleagues and actively contribute to the development of operations by: • Conducting situation-adapted mentoring in daily patient work • Providing support to nurses and nursing assistants in complex nursing situations • Organizing and conducting competency-enhancing training for ward staff • Assisting in the development of individual training plans • Mentoring specialist nurse students • Driving and participating in improvement and development initiatives • Contributing to the implementation of evidence-based working methods and enhanced patient safety. Development Within the operations area, there is a professor in nursing care who supports, among other things, the development of evidence-based working methods. As a specialist nurse, you will, together with the unit manager and nursing manager, work to implement Region Skåne's Competence and Service Model, which creates clear opportunities for learning, career development, and clinical specialization. As a new employee, you will receive an individually tailored onboarding program with on-the-job training, theoretical training, and rotation within the vascular field. Through recurring in-house training, for example in wound care, and external university education, we build a knowledge-strong operation together. We also offer the opportunity to take the course Nursing Care in Vascular Diseases and Vascular Surgical/Endovascular Treatment (7.5 higher education credits) at Malmö University. The aim is for you to complete the course during your first years at the Vascular Ward. QUALIFICATIONS We welcome you as a licensed specialist nurse in surgery or medicine, with authorization to work in Swedish healthcare. Swedish language proficiency at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale is required. You are engaged, development-oriented, and have a genuine interest in nursing care issues.
