About the Unit Sensor Company, part of the Air Force's command and air surveillance battalion, is mobile and tasked with densifying, supplementing, and replacing infrastructure for air radio and radar. The company can at short notice reinforce radar coverage, air radio coverage, and communications at strategic points throughout the country. Main Responsibilities As a Specialist Officer on the Radio Platoon, you will be a platoon leader or deputy platoon leader for two groups of soldiers. The groups consist of technicians, combat medics, vehicle drivers, support gunners, and high-altitude workers. The platoon leader and deputy consist of specialist officers who serve either as tactical leaders or technicians. The technical leader is a specialist in communications and operation of the platoon's various radio systems. As a technical leader, you are responsible for the troops' technical systems and support the groups' technicians. The tactical leader serves as an intermediary between platoon leadership and group leadership and is also the platoon leader. You are responsible for tactical decisions with the groups within the platoon. You will also conduct training and plan exercises for the groups. As a tactical leader, ground combat competence is meritorious. Daily operations are conducted primarily at Uppsala Garrison; however, the company's tasks apply throughout Sweden. During these assignments, you often work far away from other parts of the company. To perform your duties, you may be trained in climbing for high-altitude work and driver's licenses for trucks and heavy trailers. If interested, there is an opportunity to deepen your knowledge of the platoon's communications systems. Other competencies can be developed as opportunities arise.
