Eye Clinic at Mälarsjukhuset Eskilstuna About Us Region Sörmland's eye clinic is a regional clinic with outpatient services at three hospitals in Sörmland: Kullbergska sjukhuset in Katrineholm (KSK), Mälarsjukhuset (MSE) in Eskilstuna, and Nyköpings lasarett (NLN) in Nyköping. We handle approximately 60,000 patient visits annually. We perform cataract surgeries, outpatient procedures, and strabismus surgery. We also provide outpatient services for medical retina, glaucoma, and other chronic diagnostic groups. Our patient population ranges from small children to seniors. We also operate an on-call emergency service where our physicians are on standby at home. For highly specialized care needs, we refer patients to Örebro Universitetssjukhus. We are now seeking an ophthalmologist/chief physician for the Eye Clinic in Eskilstuna. At the clinic, you will work with modern equipment and collaborate with various professions. We have implemented significant task shifting. For example, anti-VEGF injections are administered by nurses. Your Responsibilities As a specialist physician/chief physician, you will examine patients with various types of eye diseases, and your daily work with us will be varied. Together with specialist physicians, resident physicians, nursing assistants, medical secretaries, orthoptists, ophthalmic nurses, and opticians, you will be well-positioned to provide excellent patient care. Given the broad scope of your role, our vision is to utilize your full range of competencies both in patient care and in teamwork, which is essential for our operations. Therefore, you should have a strong ability to teach others and demonstrate good collaboration. Training/mentoring is part of your employment. We are particularly interested in candidates who are engaged in development work and have contributed to this in previous roles. Please indicate your area of interest/subspecialty. You will be employed at the eye clinic with your work location in Eskilstuna. Daytime hours. On-call duty is included in the employment. We collaborate with Västmanlands eye clinic and share weekend on-call coverage with them. Sörmland provides on-call coverage on alternating weekends, and Västmanland covers the other weekends. We staff our own evening and night on-call coverage on weekdays. Your Qualifications You are a licensed physician with a specialist degree in ophthalmology according to Sweden's Socialstyrelsen (National Board of Health and Welfare). As a person, you are unpretentious, collegial, and enjoy meeting patients. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
