We are seeking a specialist physician in cardiology with particular expertise in echocardiography. As part of our highly specialized cardiology department, you will have the opportunity to work in a knowledge-intensive environment where diagnosis, treatment, and advancement of cardiac care are the focus. You will be an important resource in the treatment and evaluation of patients with structural heart and aortic diseases.
Our Offer
The Cardiology Clinic at Linköping University Hospital is part of the Heart Center (HC). We evaluate and treat adult patients with all types of heart diseases, with the largest groups being ischemic heart disease, arrhythmias, valve disease, and heart failure. Highly specialized care is provided to patients from Jönköping, Kalmar, and Östergötland counties along with national specialty care. It is a large cardiology department consisting of several units: HIA, acute care ward, elective ward, the Seldinger Unit (day care), and cardiology clinic. We also have a well-developed echocardiography department.
The clinic consists of an arrhythmia section, ischemia section, valve section, and heart failure section.
In addition to healthcare, we conduct research and development of international standard in close collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine at Linköping University. The department is an education and competency center for the entire Southeast healthcare region.

Job Description
We are now announcing a specialist position in cardiology with a particular focus on work within the valve section. In addition to treating and evaluating patients with valve disease, the work also includes patients with thoracic aortic diseases and adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD). The section conducts extensive echocardiographic diagnostics for both inpatient and outpatient patients as well as preoperative evaluation. In close collaboration with the thoracic vascular clinic, we conduct heart rounds weekly. The work also includes outpatient clinic activities and participation in on-call duties based on competency level. The section also conducts invasive and surgical activities. Interest in adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD) is a merit.
About You
You hold a Swedish medical license. You have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. Interest in research and education is highly valued. It is strongly advantageous to have both practical and theoretical knowledge in the field of echocardiography.
As a person, you are confident and stable. You work well with others and have good communication skills. You are ambitious and driven. You see opportunities in change and have the ability to handle complex issues. It is important to you that you continually develop your knowledge, and it is advantageous if you have an interest in research and/or education. Personal suitability is highly valued.
