About the Operation The operation for Geriatrics, Neurology and Rehabilitation (GNR) is part of the local healthcare area south. GNR has two care units, one focused on stroke/neurology and one for rehabilitation. GNR also offers day rehabilitation, specialized home rehabilitation, and outpatient teams for both neurological patients and the elderly. There is a shared clinic for neurology and geriatrics where rehabilitation medicine patients are also treated. GNR is well-staffed on the physician side and has 17 specialists as well as 7 resident physicians in internal medicine, neurology and geriatrics, and rehabilitation medicine. To meet the specialist care needs described in the care pathway Chronic Pain - 1177 for healthcare personnel, GNR operates a specialized pain management service at Sundsvall Hospital. The core staffing consists of a team constellation with a pain physician, rehabilitation physician, physiotherapist, psychologist, and a rehabilitation coordinator, also a nurse. We now want to recruit a specialist physician with an interest in pain management, preferably with algology as a subspecialization, to strengthen our newly established pain management service. Work with the pain management service is estimated to be a part-time assignment, which is why we would like to see a combination with work in rehabilitation medicine, neurology, geriatrics, or stroke. The position is a permanent employment on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum 50%) with start date by agreement. Duties We work in teams and the work looks as follows: The team jointly assesses incoming referrals from private and regional primary care from throughout Region Västernorrland and will in most cases take on a consultative role. If the patient is found to be incompletely evaluated or if continued care and support can be provided within primary care, the patient is referred back with suggestions for further measures. For certain patients, a physical team assessment is conducted. Team assessment results in either a referral response or continued measures within the operation. If additional rehabilitation measures are needed, this is done with a person-centered approach. Some patients need support in optimizing medication treatment, which is handled by the pain physician in dialogue with the referring provider. For a few patients, further referral to highly specialized care may be needed, such as for questions about neuromodulation. Here the operation collaborates with Norrland University Hospital. The rehabilitation coordinator serves as team leader and is the contact person for referring providers and other collaborative partners.
