We offer a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive knowledge about the assessment and treatment of sleep disorders during a temporary position from October 2026 to June 2027 at the Sleep Assessment Clinic at Akademiska Hospital. Sleep is a broad medical field. Sleep problems are very common and significantly impact other somatic, cognitive, and psychological functions. Understanding sleep pathophysiology, assessment, and treatment of sleep disorders is therefore of great importance when treating patients with many different symptoms. Our Operations The Sleep Assessment Clinic at Akademiska Hospital is a highly specialized facility for the assessment and diagnosis of sleep disorders such as insomnia, hypersomnia, narcolepsy, and sleepwalking. We work with a broad spectrum of sleep medicine issues where the sleep disorder is suspected to be an important part of the disease presentation. Our patients come from throughout the healthcare region and other regions. In addition to physicians, the clinic team also includes a psychologist, secretary, and nursing assistants. The clinic is located at the Specialist Rehabilitation Unit approximately 4 km from Uppsala city center. The clinic is part of the Pain Center at Akademiska, and as a physician at the sleep assessment clinic, you will be part of a larger physician group consisting of sleep specialists and pain specialists. Your Assignment You will work under the supervision of a specialist physician with special expertise in somnology (assessment and treatment of sleep disorders). Your tasks include assessment of patients with severe sleep disorders at clinic visits, evaluation of examinations (such as polysomnography, apnea registration, video recording during the night, responses from the neurophysiologist on Multiple Sleep Latency Test), and providing feedback on the assessment and treatment recommendations to the patient. Your Qualifications We are looking for a specialist physician in a relevant specialty (such as psychiatry, neurology, neurophysiology, or general medicine) interested in deepening your knowledge about the assessment and treatment of sleep disorders. Applicants with other base specialties are also welcome. We appreciate if you are curious and results-oriented. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and good collaboration skills.
