The neurology department at DS has expanded rapidly and we conduct extensive activities within acute care, inpatient care in various forms, and day care. We have a large outpatient operation. We are looking for you with expertise, commitment, and interest in patients with movement disorders, particularly Parkinson's disease. With us, you will have the opportunity to engage in both specialized and broad neurological work. Danderyd Hospital is one of the country's largest acute care hospitals and the influx of patients with neurological symptoms is large. DS is a large hospital with the atmosphere and comfort of a small hospital where operations are characterized by short contact and decision-making paths. The Neurology Unit includes the neurology clinic and speech-language pathology clinic. The neurology clinic currently has three inpatient wards, the monitoring unit NAVE, and a care unit with combined weekly and day care (NADVA). We have extensive outpatient neurological services and have intensified work with patient and care unit processes for improved patient flows. Since 2021, we have been our own USV unit (university medical care unit), participate in education of various professions, and have a professorship in neurology at DS. We have strong engagement in clinical research, teaching, and development (FoUU) in collaboration with Karolinska Institute Danderyd Hospital (KIDS, Department of Clinical Sciences). We collaborate with the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, KI, regarding medical education in neurology. Job Description The neurology clinic within the Neurology Unit is currently staffed with 27 full-time specialist neurologists in addition to a unit manager (3 of the specialists are dual specialists in neurology/internal medicine), 4 specialists in internal medicine, and 19 resident physicians in neurology. Some of these will complete their specialist training during the coming year. We also have some senior part-time physician colleagues and several substitute junior physicians, both before and after their initial clinical training. We offer varied work that includes acute and elective outpatient care, consultation services, and acute inpatient care, as well as teaching and mentoring of medical students, resident physicians in training, and specialist resident physicians. We offer team-based/process-oriented care for stroke, MS, movement disorders, epilepsy, and headache. The position includes administrative tasks, on-call duties, and participation in mentoring and training. Qualifications We are looking for you who are a specialist in neurology with specialized expertise in movement disorders. You may be early or later in your career as a neurologist specialist, but you have the expertise and ability to work independently with our patient population. You should have an interest in all forms of acute neurology, teaching, and development work. You want to work and develop in a stimulating environment with strong patient focus. Research experience and/or interest in research is meritorious.
