About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking additional staff. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. When we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for correctional facilities, probation services, detention centers, and inmate transportation. The Transportation Department's (TA) mission is to transport persons in custody. These transports primarily involve Swedish Prison and Probation Service clients, between detention centers and correctional facilities, as well as to, for example, court hearings and medical appointments, but also persons in custody on behalf of, for example, the Police, the National Board of Institutional Care, the Swedish Migration Agency, and psychiatric services. During 2026, TA will conduct approximately 140,000 transports. The Operational Support Unit is primarily a support function to the department manager, as well as to other units within the department. Support is provided in the form of, for example, developing analyses, strategies, and plans for the department manager's entire planning horizon, case preparation, maintenance of collaboration points, as well as monitoring and development of transportation operations. The unit is also responsible for department-wide administration and coordination within various operational areas, as well as the entire Swedish Prison and Probation Service vehicle fleet. Job Description For the role of specialist, we are seeking you if you want to contribute to developing and improving our transportation operations. In this role, you will have an important position where you work closely with operations and management to adapt the vehicle fleet for ongoing expansion and applicable legal requirements. You will also participate in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's broader strategic vehicle placement, replacements, and similar matters. You collaborate closely with the transportation department's core operations managers, vehicle administrators, experts, and to some extent staff and safety representatives, as well as other departments within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service when needed. You contribute to monitoring, analysis, and management of a socially critical operation with a focus on new establishments, growth, and development within TA. You support managers and decision-makers with well-founded documentation, analyses, and decision-making materials, and contribute to the development of processes, working methods, and management models. The work includes, among other things: Analyze and optimize vehicle inventory Participate in and work with requirement setting and specifications in procurement processes Monitor costs, maintenance needs, and service to optimize costs over time through vehicle disposals Collaboration is a major part of daily work, but there are also expectations that you can work independently. National travel on business will occur. Qualifications We are seeking a specialist with expertise in the transportation department's core mission at a strategic level. You are analytical with strong problem-solving abilities, have good judgment, and are interested in development and change management work. Furthermore, you can structure and prioritize your work so that the tasks you are responsible for are completed. You see no problems or obstacles but focus on solutions. We see that you have strong collaboration skills and high integrity. We are seeking someone who has: Academic education in a relevant field, or other education in combination with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant Experience in a central role in relationships with external suppliers Experience with vehicle modification and adaptation Experience working with change, monitoring, and analysis Good knowledge of different vehicle types, powertrains, and requirements adapted to diverse conditions with a functional focus Strong analytical skills Good skills in the Office suite Very strong ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish It is also advantageous to have: Experience with procurement including specification and management of vehicles for diverse operations Experience working in collaboration where different expectations and interests need to be balanced to achieve a solution Experience with the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's core operations at a strategic level Other Information The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has chosen to eliminate the cover letter and replaced it with selection questions relevant to the position.
