Security issues have become increasingly important for critical societal operations. New regulations, Sweden's NATO membership, and SMHI's role as a civil protection authority entail increased demands on security, robustness, and resilience. We are now strengthening our work in physical security and are looking for you to help develop the protection of an operation that is vital to society as a whole. As a specialist in business security with a focus on physical security, you will receive a qualified and varied assignment. You will work centrally to lead, coordinate, and develop SMHI's strategic and systematic efforts in physical security. An important part of your assignment is to understand the organization's needs and translate legal requirements, changing requirement profiles, and identified risks into well-balanced and appropriate security measures. You will work both strategically and operationally, moving between long-term development, advisory work, and concrete security issues. In the role, you will, among other things: develop guidelines, procedures, and working methods for physical security identify and analyze risks and security needs, and propose and follow up on protective measures conduct risk and vulnerability analyses and contribute to work with incidents, threat assessments, and regulatory compliance manage projects and subprojects within physical security and personnel security, for example in connection with security technology installations as well as renovations, new constructions, and extensions contribute security expertise in the design and monitoring of procured agreements within security protection and security technology support other departments within SMHI when security work needs to be developed based on new requirements and a strengthened total defense perspective plan and conduct training and exercises follow developments in the field and contribute to SMHI's security work continuing to evolve over time. You will be an important knowledge resource for all of SMHI and will have many contact points. You will collaborate closely with other security specialists, the facilities manager, the IT security function, and other parts of SMHI. The role also includes cooperation and experience exchange with external actors, such as other authorities and organizations in the security and total defense field. This gives you the opportunity to both contribute your own expertise and develop together with others in the field. The position belongs to the Security and Civil Protection unit within the Management and Operational Support department, which consists of functions that work for all of SMHI's operations from an organization-wide perspective. About you We are looking for you who have several years of experience in qualified work within business security, particularly within physical security. You are accustomed to working with, for example, analysis, planning, requirement specification, development, coordination, or follow-up of security-enhancing measures. You understand how requirements in the security field need to be translated into practice and can find solutions that provide the right protection while functioning according to the organization's needs and conditions. We also want you to have: a degree from a university, college, or university of applied sciences with a focus on security, or alternatively relevant post-secondary education in combination with relevant experience that SMHI deems equivalent very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing good ability to express yourself in English, both orally and in writing basic knowledge of Microsoft Office a class B driver's license, as the position involves travel to SMHI facilities that cannot always be reached by public transportation. It is meritorious if you have additional training or courses in the field of security good knowledge of regulations related to business security and physical security, such as CER and NIS2/the Cybersecurity Act experience handling security-classified tasks and documents experience in information or cyber security, signal protection, procurement, or supplier management in the security field experience conducting structured interviews to assess suitability, reliability, or vulnerabilities experience working in public sector operations. This is a role with significant responsibility and high demands on judgment. Therefore, we are looking for you who have a strong security awareness, high integrity, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a responsible manner. You are self-driven and structured and enjoy taking responsibility for issues from analysis to implementation and follow-up. You can take a step back, see the big picture, and understand what consequences different choices may have in the long term. At the same time, you have the perseverance required to drive complex issues all the way through to results. To succeed in the assignment, you also need to be good at collaboration. You are attentive and build trust, and can explain complex security issues in a clear and understandable way to different audiences. You are confident in both guiding and making demands when the situation requires it.
