About the role: Söderköpings Municipality is in an exciting development phase where community development issues play a crucial role in the municipality's future growth, attractiveness, and sustainable development. We are now looking for an experienced and strategically oriented Director of Community Development who wants to lead and develop the operation in a municipality with high ambitions and strong confidence in the future. As Director of Community Development, you have overall responsibility for the operations area and lead an organization that includes the units of Strategy and Planning as well as Environment and Building Permits. Two unit managers with responsibility for their respective operational areas report to your management organization. In addition, you have 6 direct reports working with operational support. The role includes full operational, budgetary, and personnel responsibility as well as an overall responsibility to lead, develop, and coordinate the municipality's community development issues. You report to the Municipal Director and are part of the municipality's management group where you actively contribute to the municipality's combined development work. The assignment is characterized by a long-term and strategic perspective with focus on community planning, infrastructure, sustainable development, and growth. You have a central role in the municipality's continued development and are expected to actively contribute to work on sustainable community development, both urban development and development of larger infrastructure projects. The role involves many contact points and close cooperation with political leadership, the municipality's operations, citizens, business, and regional actors. Söderköping values good cooperation with surrounding municipalities. Through cooperation, conditions are created for experience exchange, efficient resource use, and development of shared strategic issues that strengthen the municipality's long-term development. Within the community development area, there is already extensive collaboration with Valdemarsviks Municipality that can be further developed. Placement: Söderköping Who are we looking for? We are looking for someone with relevant academic education or other experience we consider equivalent. You have several years of experience in strategic leadership, several years of experience working with community development issues, and are well versed in the laws and regulations that govern the field. We would like to see that you have experience leading through other managers as well as experience with system leadership, where you have successfully worked on creating direction, coordination, and governance in complex organizations. Experience from municipal operations or other politically governed organization is a merit. It is also a merit if you have driven change and development work. We are looking for someone who is a confident and engaging leader with good communication skills and who creates strong collaborations. You have a strategic holistic perspective, are solution-oriented, and drive development with focus on results and long-term sustainability. You work structurally, prioritize well, and create conditions for the operation to reach its goals. With high integrity and professionalism, you make well-founded decisions and build trust in your leadership.
