5 position(s).
Do you want to be where things happen and where your contribution makes a difference? This position offers great opportunities, but requires you to be courageous, to see challenges as something positive, and to want to contribute to the continued development of social services for children and young people in Västerås.
Your responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring that children and young people, ages 0-18, have their needs assessed. You also make decisions about interventions and follow up to ensure they receive good care and have their rights fulfilled. We make sure that your knowledge and competencies are utilized within our broad mandate. This creates the opportunity for some specialization in your position, both regarding target groups and where in the case handling process you want to be. To truly succeed in our mission, you need to collaborate with important actors, both internally and externally.
We work with a coordinated approach so that families, to the greatest extent possible, have contact with the same social worker. We develop our work based on societal developments, and we have particular focus on three target groups: children and young people at risk of criminality, children and young people with disabilities and psychiatric issues, and children and young people placed in emergency and foster care. We see that these target groups require special collaboration with both internal and external parties.
With us, you get close leadership with several team leaders in each unit who support you in your daily work. In addition to team leaders, there are also managers, specialists, and other support functions. There is always someone to turn to when needed. When you join us, you will receive thorough introduction tailored to your needs. Here you can rely on clear guidelines but also have the opportunity to influence. All so you can go home at the end of the day and feel that you have truly contributed to our important mission.
Your qualifications
We are looking for you who are a trained social worker or have relevant education and are validated from before. We seek both those new to the profession and those with previous experience. The Social Services Act and LVU are the foundation you stand on in your work, and your knowledge in these areas is important. Documentation is a natural part of everyday work, and therefore you need to have good skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.
You are flexible and see possibilities in changes. We also believe you are unpretentious and have the ability to be clear and adapt your communication. For us, it is important that you are interested in social work and go to work because you want to and dare to make a difference for vulnerable people in society. If you have experience and knowledge of the target group, that is particularly meritorious.
Since travel is part of the position, you need to have a category B driver's license.
What we offer
With us, you get a trust-based workplace with strong collegial support. We are proud to make a difference every day for children and young people with a high degree of legal security.
Children and Youth consists of three equally large units that all work toward the same goal. Each unit has a unit manager, four team leaders, one to two senior case handlers, and should have about twenty social workers and assistant social workers. We work unit-wise but work together across unit boundaries when needed. With us, there is the possibility of remote work two days a week. We are located in the Social Services building right by the station area where all authority-exercising units in the Individual and Family Administration are situated. The proximity to each other facilitates collaboration so that our clients can receive the best possible help.
