Wästerås City has removed personal letters from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and more fair recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will answer a number of questions that will be an important part of our selection process.
With us, you work with adults who often find themselves in complex life situations where the need for support is great. In the role of social secretary, you get to use your expertise in qualified investigative work and in close cooperation with other actors. Together we create conditions for change that lasts over time.
We are now recruiting two social secretaries: one fixed-term position until August 31, 2027, and one temporary position until August 31, 2027.
Your Responsibilities
As a social secretary with us, you get an independent and varied role where you investigate, assess, and follow up interventions according to the Social Services Act and LVM. Through close collaboration with actors such as Västerås open care, other units within social services, the region, and the police, you will make a difference in every meeting and conversation with your clients.
With us, you receive thorough introduction, mentor support, and training in MI and ASI if you don't already have it. We value continuous development and also offer external supervision and counseling support as needed.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you with a degree as a social worker, behavioral scientist, or another bachelor's degree that we consider relevant for the position. Your education should include social law, or you have experience working with the target group or within public administration. We would like to see that you have knowledge of social services and experience working with the Social Services Act, LVM, or LVU. Since writing investigations and assessments are part of your responsibilities, it is important that you feel confident documenting and expressing yourself in writing.
You will thrive in this role if you have a genuine interest in investigation and public administration, as well as strong commitment to the target group. We are looking for you who is secure, responsible, and proactive, and who sees solutions even in challenging situations. You have a positive attitude toward the shared responsibility for the entire administration's mission and understand the importance of cooperating and helping each other when workload peaks occur. Close collaboration with other professionals, authorities, and care providers requires clear communication and the ability to thrive in a collaboration-oriented environment. If you have a driver's license (B category), we see that as an advantage.
What We Offer
With us, you meet not just a workplace, but a meaningful mission where you become part of a warm and engaged team. We believe in people's ability to change and together create paths forward, even when it's tough. We work with adults over 18 years old, often with substance abuse issues in combination with mental health problems, and make a difference every day. Our office is located in the Social Services Building in Västerås, in a modern and activity-based work environment. We believe in trust and freedom with responsibility. This means you plan your own workday, have flexible hours, and the opportunity to work remotely part of the time.
Here you become part of something bigger! With warmth and respect, we demonstrate effectiveness in both the big and small things. We live our values in meeting with each other and those we serve. Every day, year-round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues around the city, you get Sweden's most important job.
