Värmdö is the archipelago's meeting place with a unique combination of nature's quiet beauty and a more urban lifestyle. Our mission is not just one but many: schools, properties, social services, harbors, healthcare, libraries, care, and much more. We work to ensure that all Värmdö residents can live a rich and free life. We want to be the ones who enable the dream of a vibrant, secure environment for home, family, and business.
To fully succeed, we need diverse expertise and must work together for a shared and trustful work culture, built on courageous and responsible employees who understand residents' needs and wishes.
Our Operations
Since January 2024, Värmdö Municipality has implemented a project where, during the period 2024-2026, work hours are scheduled so that you as a social secretary work every 7th Friday. The other Fridays you are off.
The unit currently consists of social secretaries divided into groups for investigations, interventions, family care, and family law, led by four group leaders and a unit manager. We are now seeking an engaged and experienced social secretary for family care.
Värmdö Municipality is a small municipality with high accessibility to managers and leaders for decisions and support. Family Care has a group leader dedicated to family care and bright, fresh offices where access to private rooms is available.
During fall and winter, we will plan and carry out work to build a new family care unit with the direction of developing it into a placement team with shared responsibility for follow-up of children and young people placed outside their own home, for example in foster care, emergency care, HVB, SiS, and supported housing. The change has not yet been implemented but will affect the assignment's focus over time.
You can easily and conveniently commute to us in 30 minutes by direct bus from Slussen, which runs every 10 minutes. If you choose to drive instead, the same distance takes approximately 20 minutes.
Your Assignment
Your main task as a social secretary in the group is to follow up on care for placed children, including matters related to schooling, health, and the child's well-being. Follow-up is conducted through home visits, individual conversations with the child, and contact with guardians and their network. With the planned organizational change, your assignment will gradually encompass follow-up of placements in several different care forms (HVB, SiS, and supported housing). You independently manage your own cases. Your team colleague, the foster care secretary, investigates, follows up, and supervises foster homes. Work is led by a group leader who provides close support, and external supervision is offered.
A driver's license is a requirement as travel is part of the position.
Your Experience
We are looking for someone who has
- A degree in social work (socionom)
- At least 2 years of experience as a child secretary within family care
- Documented experience of planning structured visits together with biological parents and foster families
- Documented experience of handling and following up placed children in foster care according to SoL and LVU
- Category B driver's license
- Good administrative ability and ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
Meritorious
- Documented experience of following up placements at SiS, HVB, and supported housing
- Documented experience of working according to Signs of Safety
- Experience in investigating and supervising foster homes
Personal Qualities
To succeed in the role, you are flexible and have the ability to build trustworthy relationships. As a person, we are looking for someone who is positive and solution-focused. You have a strong drive to do what is best for those we serve and for the operations as a whole, and you appreciate the varying pace that the work entails. You dare to think differently and want to participate in the unit's development work.
We place great importance on your personal suitability for the position.

The employment is permanent and full-time. Start date by agreement or as soon as possible.
