The Family Law Unit is part of the children's activities at the social services office. We are co-located with the reception, social emergency services, child and youth investigators, and the foster care unit at Vikboplan 13. We are now looking for a family law secretary. Currently, the team consists of 13 case handlers, 1 senior social secretary, and 1 unit manager. We are a committed group with a strong focus on those we serve. The Family Law Unit works with custody, residence, and visitation investigations, information meetings, cooperation meetings, paternity/parenthood matters, and adoptions. We also facilitate parent groups in BiFF – Children in Parents' Focus and children's groups, Hanna & Theo, which are supportive conversations for children living with parents in conflict. Your tasks In this role, you will have a strong focus on children; we constantly work from a child perspective and apply it to all tasks. As a social secretary at the Family Law Unit, you work with custody, residence, and visitation investigations commissioned by the court. Your tasks are varied, but child interviews are an important part of the investigation process. You independently lead cooperation meetings between parents to reach agreements and improve collaboration. You approve agreements in these matters and conduct information meetings. Further, you handle cases concerning paternity/parenthood and consent investigations to receive children with residence abroad for adoption. Statements to the district court regarding kinship adoption, specially appointed guardians, and name changes occur. The work also includes family law counseling. This is a position with many contact points, both with the municipality's citizens, but also with colleagues within the municipality and other external stakeholders for collaboration on the cases you work with. Who are you? We are looking for you with a degree in social work, or alternatively a degree in behavioral science with knowledge of social law. You have good knowledge of the Parenthood Code and social legislation, as well as experience with family law matters and qualified investigation work. If you also have experience in conversation support, we see that as a positive. We are looking for you with great commitment in your field of work and focus on those we serve in our mission. You are a skilled communicator who can express yourself well both verbally and in writing; you have the ability to adapt your communication style to the recipient and ensure that the information is understood. Another strength is your ability to collaborate with others where you listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively. You have an interest in investigation work and a good ability to analyze information. You approach situations with an empathetic manner adapted to the situation and individuals you meet. A valid driver's license for manual transmission is required for this position.
