Do you want to be a key player in creating a safer future for children and youth in Avesta? Do you have the drive to make a real difference? Then this role might be for you! In 2025, we created two new positions in the Children and Youth unit: social secretaries specializing in working with children and young people who have developed or are at risk of developing behavioral issues. As one of our colleagues moves on to other assignments, we're now seeking a new team member. In this meaningful role, you'll work both investigating and following up with young people in at-risk situations. You collaborate with police, schools, open care services, field assistants, and other key actors to find sustainable solutions. You'll be based in the children and youth unit with other social secretaries, but you'll also work in cross-professional teams. A day in this role is varied and eventful. You might be out in the field meeting with young people and building trust, conducting coordination meetings with schools and police, or conducting risk and safety assessments to ensure the right support is provided in time. You work both strategically and directly with young people, always focusing on strengthening their possibilities and preventing crime and exclusion. At the same time, you're an important part of developing our methods and shaping the future of social services in Avesta. The role includes sharing knowledge and leading in various collaboration forums, both regarding the target group and social services' work in general. Are you ready to take on the challenge and become part of our important work? Qualifications We're looking for someone who is passionate about working with youth and has experience meeting young people in difficult life situations. You're flexible, solution-focused, and have an easy way of building relationships. You have strong collaboration skills with different actors and can work and lead both independently and in teams. You come with ideas and initiate activities based on emerging needs. You also inspire confidence in others, remain calm and stable in pressing situations, and have the ability to stay motivated and effective despite setbacks. Since the role may involve adjustments to your day based on incoming reports and protection assessments, it's especially important that you're flexible and have the ability to adapt to new tasks. The role is primarily based during daytime hours, but evening work occurs regularly. Since we're building this work from the ground up, we'd like you to contribute your experience, creativity, and commitment to developing our methods and approaches. You should have a sociology degree, or you can meet the qualification requirements with another relevant education of at least 180 higher education credits, including studies in social law, administrative law, psychology, and social work. The social work studies should also have increased in difficulty progressively. Experience in handling cases within child and youth social care is a requirement. Documentation and communication are a large part of our work, so you need to be able to express yourself well in both speech and writing in Swedish. Training in BBIC, Signs of Safety, and assessment methods such as ESTER or Savry are merits. A driver's license is a requirement. Since you'll be working with children and youth, you'll need to be able to provide a certificate from the police's criminal records registry. Other Information Interviews may be conducted continuously throughout the application period. We at Avesta Municipality care for our employees. As an employee at Avesta Municipality, you have the opportunity to use wellness time and a wellness allowance, you have free access to an employee gym, up to 30 free visits to one of the municipality's public baths each year, and several other free wellness activities that the municipality arranges continuously.
