Authority Unit
We are seeking a new colleague with a focus on children and youth as one of our employees is moving on to other tasks.
Your Work Tasks
As a social secretary in the children and youth field, you will work with authority functions with the child's best interest in focus. The assignment involves investigating, assessing, and following up on children's and young people's needs for protection and support under the Social Services Act (SoL), the Act on Special Provisions Regarding Care of Young People (LVU), and the Act on Placement of Children in Secure Housing (LBSB). Working as a social secretary performing investigation and follow-up of interventions means creating conditions for change with a focus on children's needs and their right to secure living conditions. An important part of the work is making children participatory and ensuring that their voice and perspective are clearly represented throughout the entire process.
You will be part of the authority unit where 40 people work. An exciting operation with complexity, making the work both varied and stimulating. The unit is organized into five groups: intake group, investigation group, placement group, foster care group, and adult group. We have close management with a senior social secretary in each group and are continuously working on organizational development. Your group placement is dynamic and may change over time based on the unit's needs within the area of handling children and youth cases. Together with a highly experienced and committed work team, you can make a difference for the children, families, and adults of Västervik municipality.
Your Competence
We are seeking someone with a degree in social work or equivalent education in accordance with the National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations for authority work with children and youth. For this position, you must also have a B-category driving license and be accustomed to driving with manual transmission.
We are seeking someone with several years of work experience in the field and who is well acquainted with current legislation. Since we have high standards regarding personal suitability, shorter experience can be considered equivalent.
We are seeking someone who is calm, stable, and has good self-awareness regarding your own strengths, limitations, and needs. You thrive with rapid changes, see opportunities, and dare to try new things. You are attentive and have good communicative ability both orally and in writing. Social services can be the ultimate safety net for children and adults in difficult life situations. The work therefore places extra high demands on personal maturity and suitability for the profession.
