Sorsele Municipality has three primary schools located in Ammarnäs, Blattnicksele, and Sorsele. As a social pedagogue in the municipality, you will support students across all of our primary schools. The village of Blattnicksele is situated on the Vindelälven river, just under three miles south of Sorsele. Sorsele is a small community in the heart of Lapland, with the advantages of a small town: closeness and simplicity. In the municipality, we work together. Sorsele is strategically located between several airports, with nine miles to the nearest one. We are now seeking a social pedagogue for the primary schools in Sorsele Municipality. For this position, we apply continuous selection, which means the position may be filled earlier. Duties: As a social pedagogue, you will work to support students in need of extra accommodations, with a particular focus on social and interactive situations. You will help students create security, clarity, and structure in the school day through adapted tools and a relationship-building approach. You will work together with other professionals in the municipality's central student health services. You will build trusting relationships with students and serve as a link between student and teacher. Together with mentors, teachers, and the student health team, you will help create a functioning support system around each student based on their circumstances and needs. Structure, clarity, and perseverance are important aspects of your work, and you are expected to guide, remind, and be present in various contexts. You will work closely with a colleague who is also a social pedagogue. Your primary workplace is Vindelälvsskolan in Sorsele, but the assignment also includes support for students at the municipality's two other school units, Ammarnäs and Blattnicksele. Guidance services to school staff may be included, primarily in the form of support to educators in specific classroom situations. Together with the other social pedagogue and the IFO social secretary, you will also be part of the school social team and work with students who have problematic school absenteeism. Your Qualities: You are knowledgeable, engaged, and creative, and you see collaboration with colleagues as a natural part of creating good conditions for students' development and learning. You are goal-oriented, positive, and solution-focused, with the ability to adapt your approach based on varying needs and situations. You are attentive, present, and have a strong ability to perceive and understand students' signals and needs. At the same time, you work professionally and responsibly, with high integrity and great respect for confidentiality. You find it easy to build safe and trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians, and you contribute to a positive and trustful collaborative climate. We place great emphasis on personal suitability, and we would like you to feel comfortable working with younger school students. Competence/Qualifications - Requirements: We are looking for someone who is trained as a social pedagogue or has other pedagogical education, preferably supplemented with expertise in areas such as NPF (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) and MI (Motivational Interviewing). You have a strong student focus and always work from students' needs and interests. You support students' development both intellectually and socially. You are creative, willing to think in new ways, and driven by developing students' strengths and talents. As a person, you are flexible, engaged, and take responsibility. You see opportunities rather than obstacles and have a natural ability to collaborate with others. Your approach is warm, clear, and calm, and you inspire confidence in both students and colleagues. You are organized and have the ability to maintain direction in your work. You can create safe and stimulating situations during lessons, at breaks, and during after-school care. You actively work to include more students in social contexts, not just those for whom you have direct support responsibility. We consider it an asset if you have experience working with students in need of special support and with creating supportive structures in various learning environments. To succeed in this role and in working toward a school for all, collaboration with colleagues, student health services, and other stakeholders is a natural part of your approach. You communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing. Creating and developing strong relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues is an important part of the role. We see you as a key person in creating a safe and developmental learning environment, and therefore you also need to have good leadership qualities. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. Training in NPF and MI is considered an asset. Duration/Working Time: Temporary position. Full-time, 40 h/week. One of our social pedagogues will take leave starting around week 40, and we plan for you to work in parallel for two to three weeks. The temporary position therefore runs from 2026-09-07 through 2027-06-17. Salary: According to agreement. The Municipality applies individual salary setting.
