Description We are now seeking an extra tailor and costume assistant for hourly project-based work, available both on weekdays and weekends. You will work with sewing and pattern making for dance and theater clothing as well as hair styling and theater makeup. Work as a dresser during performances will also occur. With us, you will be part of a positive team with friendly colleagues as you work as part of our costume department, which consists of one full-time costume designer and several project-based tailors. Job Responsibilities Job responsibilities include sewing and pattern making as well as work with hair styling and theater makeup. Under the supervision of the costume manager/costume designer, creatively create and refine costumes for theatrical productions, costume maintenance, alterations/new sewing, decoration/embellishment, aging/distressing, work with headdresses, dance clothing. Tasks related to props and minor scenography work may also occur. Supervision of dance students and other performers within theatrical operations may also occur. Qualifications We are looking for you who are a trained tailor or seamstress with a focus on dance and theater. For this position, you need knowledge of dance and theater clothing and we would appreciate it if you have worked with pattern making for dance. If you have previous experience working in theater, that is highly meritorious. Since Swedish Ballet School's students are between 10-16 years old, it is also an advantage if you have worked with children previously. As a person, you are structured and careful in your work, which means you have the ability to work within set timeframes. For this position, it is also important that you have good collaboration skills and find it easy to work both with others and independently. Your tasks will consist of manufacturing and assisting with costumes and dance clothing within the school's scenic education.
