Are you driven by seeing others develop and want to make a difference for children and young people? We have the opportunity for you! We are now seeking an engaged licensed psychologist to join our student health services, which is a central function and an important link between departments working to strengthen our students. Here you will have excellent opportunities to shape and further develop our service areas. We warmly welcome your application!
Job Responsibilities
As a school psychologist, you assess students' needs and plan interventions together with the respective principal and student health team. These interventions should help each student reach their academic goals and be given the conditions to develop as an individual. We view preventive and promotional work as central to this, which can include guidance and consultation, as well as educating staff, guardians, and students on various topics.
In your role, you will also be responsible for creating and developing overarching strategies and procedures for work concerning children with diagnoses, social exclusion, and mental health issues. You are also responsible for establishing and maintaining good contact with external functions, such as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP). The position also includes time for professional development in the form of monitoring the external environment to follow current research.
You will be part of the Central team, which consists of school nurses, school counselors, study and career advisors, IT pedagogues, IT support, coordinators in the school social team, and the manager. You will also participate in our local student health teams, whose primary task is to work from a preventive and health-promoting perspective. The local student health teams are led by the principal at each school, and you will therefore work on behalf of both your immediate manager and our principals. The position is based in Svenstavik, but your work will also involve travel to other schools within the municipality.
Qualifications
We are seeking someone who is a licensed psychologist with experience conducting developmental assessments and/or neuropsychiatric evaluations. Specialist training in educational psychology or neuropsychology is a merit. It is also advantageous if you have previous experience working in schools and/or with children and young people, as well as experience in mentoring and working consultatively. You have a strong ability to express yourself orally and in writing, as well as good skills in managing IT systems. Furthermore, you need good knowledge of school curriculum documents. A driver's license for personal vehicles (category B) is required.
Bergs Municipality is a Sámi administrative municipality, and we therefore consider it a merit if you have knowledge of South Sámi language and culture.
Personal Qualities
You have strong leadership qualities and are accustomed to collaboration, but also have the ability to work independently. You are good at analysis and based on these can prioritize and define the scope of your tasks. As a person, you are calm, responsible, structured, and have a positive attitude toward inclusive work methods. You can act according to your own conviction, independently plan and drive your work, and communicate your professional judgment in a manner adapted to your audience. We also see that you are a curious person who enjoys working in environments where there are opportunities for influence, change, and development.
What We Offer
Working in Bergs Municipality means becoming part of an organization in constant development and forward movement. Our employees are our absolute most important resource, and we value you for your unique skills and experience. Opportunities are available for vacation exchange, pension exchange, and some remote work. We also have a benefits portal with a range of offerings, a generous wellness allowance, and the opportunity for wellness activities during paid work time.
The position is permanent and will be filled for the fall term 2026 or by agreement. Selection and interview invitations will take place continuously during the posting period. Upon an employment offer, you must provide an extract from the suspicion and conviction register.
Bergs Municipality applies HÖK/AB (General Provisions) for this position. We use individual salary setting; for this position, the current starting salary range is 35,000 kr – 48,000 kr per month, depending on your previous experience and qualifications.
