Your new workplace
The Department of Children and Education in Sundsvall Municipality is now seeking a school physician for Student Health's medical services. This position represents an expansion of the operations and offers you the opportunity to make a real difference in children's and young people's health, development, and learning.
As part of student health services, you work together with school nurses, school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and other school staff to create good conditions for students' health and goal achievement. Student Health's medical services are LGBTQI-certified and characterized by collaboration, quality, and development.
You will become part of a professional network with the municipality's other school physicians and school nurses where regular meetings, supervision, and profession-specific professional development are a natural part of the work.
How you contribute in your role as School Physician
As a school physician, you work primarily on health promotion and prevention, but also on interventions based on students' needs. You base your work on the governing documents that regulate the operations, including the Education Act, the Health and Medical Care Act, and the National Board of Health and Welfare's guidelines.
In this role, you will, among other things:
contribute medical expertise to student health's interprofessional work
support students' development toward educational goals
collaborate with school nurses, school staff, guardians, and external actors
conduct medical assessments and consultations
work with health promotion and prevention initiatives at the individual, group, and organizational levels
document in the digital medical record system PMO
participate in the operations' quality development and development work.
Reception work takes place at the municipality's schools in close collaboration with school nurses. The position is primarily on-site, with the possibility of some administrative remote work after discussion with your manager.
This is a permanent position. The scope can be discussed and may be 100 percent or another agreed-upon level of employment, for example 75 or 50 percent.
Your competence and experience
We are looking for you who are a licensed physician with specialist competence in:
general medicine
pediatrics, or
child and adolescent psychiatry.
You have good knowledge of Swedish and basic knowledge of English. A Class B driver's license is required, and you have experience working in digital medical record systems.
It is meritorious if you have experience working as a school physician and in-depth knowledge in areas such as:
growth and development
mental health
vaccination and disease prevention issues
chronic illness and functional impairments
specific learning difficulties
health promotion work in the school environment
legislation governing schools and student health.

You work in a rule-based manner and have a good understanding of the laws and guidelines that govern the operations. Furthermore, you are stable, flexible, and have an easy time collaborating with different professions. You communicate clearly and have an inclusive approach where you value people's different backgrounds and conditions.

About the recruitment process
Upon request, you must be able to provide your medical license and certificate of specialist competence. Employment also requires a certified extract from the criminal record register.

Salary: Monthly salary/hourly wage. Individual and differentiated salary setting is applied.
Terms: Salary compensation beyond the monthly salary follows the applicable collective agreement. Central collective agreements are available on the website of Swedish Municipalities and Regions, www.skr.se
