Your New Role As a school counselor, you work in health promotion, prevention, and intervention based on the profession's mandate description. Through interdisciplinary collaboration within the student health team (EHT), you contribute to supporting students' development toward educational goals and creating accessible learning environments. You will be part of the EHT for several of the school's programs and be part of the school's Larger-EHT, where all student health professionals and principals participate. In this role, you bring a psychosocial perspective to student health's health promotion and prevention work. You participate in the school's values-based and equal treatment initiatives and contribute to systematic quality work. The work also involves planning and implementing interventions aimed at classes, guardians, and school staff in areas such as mental health, substance use, and violence. You conduct social assessments and observations at both group and individual levels and offer counseling support to students on psychosocial matters related to their school situation. The role also includes providing advice, support, consultation, and guidance to guardians, school leadership, and staff. When needed, you initiate and participate in reports to social services and conduct school social investigations with psychosocial questions. An important part of the work is collaboration with school staff, other student health professionals, and external actors such as child and adolescent psychiatry (BUP), social services, habilitation services, and the police. You also contribute to the profession's development by mentoring placement students, serving as a mentor for new school counselors, and participating in professional networks and external supervision. Experience working as a school counselor is a merit. In the role of school counselor, you are the school's specialist in social work and social legislation, with in-depth knowledge of psychosocial factors and their importance for students' health, learning, and development. You have competence in counseling methods and interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as good knowledge of society's welfare system and the living conditions of children and young people. To succeed in this role, you need good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, and basic IT skills. We are looking for someone who is confident in their profession, has good collaboration skills, and genuine commitment to children's and young people's development and well-being.
