What you will do Together, Vallås School and Snöstorp School are seeking a school librarian who with enthusiasm and joy wants to be part of driving the schools' activities forward. As a school librarian, you are an important part of the work to increase students' achievement of learning goals. In the role of school librarian, your primary task is to, together with students and teachers, promote students' interest in reading and contribute to increasing literacy. You are also responsible for the budget and purchase of literature and other media for the library. You will work with teachers and other educators to develop students' love of reading, imagination, reading and writing skills. You are interested in the opportunities that digital tools offer for promoting reading interest and reading and writing development. We want there to be a focus on reading development in all subjects throughout elementary school. In the role, you collaborate with school leadership, teachers, and other staff in elementary school. You have a clear focus on students, value good treatment, and good relationships. The role also includes developing students' ability to search for and evaluate information. You will work with source criticism and how students should handle the internet and social media. You are a role model and are a driving force in the school's digitalization process and a support to teachers and students in digital tools. You will be part of the school librarian network in Halmstad Municipality. As a school librarian, you work at both Vallås School (60%) and Snöstorp School (40%). You meet students from preschool through ninth grade and you collaborate with the school's dedicated educators to create the best possible conditions for students' learning. Snöstorp School has a school library, and at Vallås School we collaborate with the public library located in the same building as the school. You will be part of the administration's school librarian network. The network meets regularly and is led by the administration's school library developer. The purpose is to create an arena for school library development through systematic quality work, professional development, and collegial learning, dialogue, and information and inspiration. Your experience We are looking for you who have a degree as a school librarian and several years of experience working in a school library. It is an advantage if you have experience working with children and young people from different cultures and language groups. If you do not have a degree as a librarian, it is also possible to apply and possibly be employed as a library educator where the requirements are: Higher education/university education in the field, e.g., literature science, licensed teacher, journalist, etc. We look forward to your application! What we offer We offer a position at two of our eastern schools. Snöstorp School is located in the eastern parts of Halmstad. The school has approximately 380 students in grades F-5. Each grade has three classes. Snöstorp School has many students who attend after-school care, which is divided into four different programs. The school has a large schoolyard with good opportunities for various activities and a recess supervision team that works with meaningful breaks and staffs our toy library. In the nearby area, there is access to green areas, playgrounds, and hiking areas at Fylleån valley. After grade 5, students move to Klara School to attend grades 6-9. A new school is being planned on Snöstorp called Lyckedal. This school will receive students from Snöstorp School and Andersberg School from grades 4-9. Vallås School is an F-9 school with just over 700 students located in the central parts of Halmstad. At Vallås School, we all share responsibility for students' safety and for students to reach as far as possible in their development and learning. At Vallås School, we develop instruction together to improve goal achievement, safety, and study environment. We have a student support team consisting of principal, assistant principals, special educator, special teacher, counselor, and school nurse. The student support team works closely with work teams to collaborate with staff to develop an accessible learning environment for all students. We also have access to central student services with school psychologist and school physician.
