Do you want to be part of developing Åsele—the inland countryside of the future? Åsele Municipality is seeking a school and public librarian. Do you want to inspire a love of reading and strengthen students' information literacy? At Åsele Central School, you will have a central role where the library becomes an integral part of instruction and student development. You will also work with colleagues in the municipality's public library, handling all library operations including service at the lending and information desk. Duties We are looking for someone who wants to build up a school library program from the ground up, with the goal of making it an active and integrated part of the school's educational work. You will work closely with school leadership and teachers. You will actively contribute to students' knowledge development and work with all grades from preschool through grade 9. Teaching source criticism, information searching, and reading promotion activities are central parts of the role. Your responsibilities will include: Drive and develop the school's reading promotion work Strengthen students' media and information literacy (MIK) Guide students and teachers in information searching, source criticism, and digital competence Work at the municipality's public library on tasks ranging from purchasing and arranging events to working at the lending and information desk and assisting visitors with various digital questions. Qualifications We are looking for someone with the right skills and experience to strengthen the school library's role in instruction and who also wants to work with colleagues and visitors at the public library. Degree in library and information science Experience working in a school library is a merit Ability to collaborate with educators and contribute to school development Experience with reading promotion work with children and youth Strong knowledge of information searching and source criticism We place great importance on personal suitability Genuine interest in meeting people and commitment to providing everyone with good service and support based on individual needs Several years of experience in library operations Driver's license is required Scope The position is 50% school librarian and 50% public librarian with two employers. A probationary period will apply.
