The Swedish Forest Agency (Skogsstyrelsen) is seeking a forest consultant to work with the supervision of timber harvesting notifications. We are recruiting 1 forest consultant to our Northern Jämtland district, where you will be part of the Supervision team for Jämtland. The work is primarily within the province but can extend across the entire northern region. You will be stationed at one of the district's offices; see current locations listed further down in this announcement.
As a forest consultant, you will have a job with varied and stimulating tasks as well as continuous professional development.
Job Responsibilities
Initially, you will primarily work with processing timber harvesting notifications, supervision in accordance with the Forestry Act and the Environmental Code. The tasks are performed mainly at the office, but fieldwork occurs. The work involves contact with forest owners, other active participants in forestry, and relevant authorities and organizations. As an employee of the Swedish Forest Agency, you are expected to contribute to the development of our operations.
Depending on your expertise, specialization, and operational needs, other work may also become relevant.
Qualifications
For this position, you must have a forest science university degree or another relevant education with corresponding experience within our field of work. Relevant work experience is a merit. We would like to see that you have experience in both forest production and forest nature conservation issues. Experience with government administration, knowledge of species in forest environments, knowledge of the Administrative Procedure Act and nature value assessments are merits, as are experience and knowledge in the legal field. We value strong IT/GIS skills.
We place great importance on your personal qualities. You should be flexible, easy to collaborate with in a team, outgoing with experience working independently, and have good organizational skills. Cooperation skills and the ability to engage in dialogue with forest owners and forestry officials in an educational manner are important qualities. You must have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing.
A driver's license for a car is a requirement.
Terms
We offer a permanent employment at 100% which begins with a 6-month probationary period.
Start date by agreement.
Stationery location is at one of the district's offices in Järpen, Strömsund, or Östersund.
During week 31 there is no manager on duty who can answer questions, but please feel free to use email and they will respond as soon as possible.
