Our ambition is to provide the highest level of expertise and quality to care for, cure, treat, and support patients in Sörmland suffering from tumor diseases. On the oncology ward, we care for not only patients with tumor diseases but also hematology patients with various blood disorders. Patients on the ward are 18 years of age or older. We are also responsible for follow-up care of stem cell transplant patients in Sörmland. The oncology operations at Mälarsjukhuset are housed in a single building, which provides excellent logistics for both patients and staff. Radiation therapy is performed on floor 2, the oncology clinic is on floor 3, and the care ward is located on floor 4. An oncology clinic is also available at Nyköping Hospital. With us, you will experience an exciting everyday work where you have the opportunity to develop broad expertise with specialized knowledge in oncology and hematology. We work at a varying pace, meeting patients in acute situations as well as patients in their end-of-life care. You will work with pleasant and supportive colleagues in a welcoming and open atmosphere. During the day, we work in three teams consisting of two nurses and one nursing assistant per team. In the evening, you work more independently but have support from both nursing colleagues, nursing assistants, and a ward manager. Your Responsibilities As a nurse, you are responsible for the nursing care of the patients in your team. The work includes managing medications, administering infusions, injections, and transfusions. You will also administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and antibody treatments and will daily manage central lines. The work also includes planning upcoming treatments and discharge planning. The work is interesting and varied with both planned activities and acute care. You will gain broad expertise by meeting critically ill patients in many different situations. We offer individually tailored orientation, and nurses new to the profession are assigned an experienced mentor during their first year with us. It is important that you feel secure in your professional role. You will receive training in chemotherapy handling and we offer opportunities for continuous professional development. You also have the opportunity to influence your schedule through a preference scheduling system. You will find an open, cheerful, and engaged team that enjoys working with each other and their work. You enjoy working in a team, are attentive, and communicate well with both colleagues and patients. You can quickly adapt to acute situations and changing circumstances.
