The Surgery operational area is one of the largest operations at Centralsjukhuset in Kristianstad and consists of outpatient services with vascular, lower and upper gastrointestinal, and breast/plastic patients. We also have an oncological treatment unit, Acute Surgery Department, Surgery Department, Urology and Vascular Department, Surgical Gynecology, Otolaryngology, and Acute Orthopedic Department.
We are an acute surgical care ward with varied and eventful days, where variation is a natural part of the work. We care for patients with trauma and acute surgical conditions such as abdominal pain of unclear origin, ileus, appendicitis, gallbladder and pancreatic diseases, hemorrhages, and infections. The department offers the possibility of continuous monitoring, which creates good conditions for safe and professional care of our more demanding patients.
To provide nurses with the best possible conditions, there are supporting functions such as a department pharmacist, who is responsible for medication management and restocking, as well as a daytime coordinator on weekdays who coordinates incoming calls and books transport. We also have an SVU coordinator during daytime who contributes to safe and secure discharges in collaboration with the municipality. We strive for a good work environment and well-functioning teamwork where the right competence is used in the right way. Close collaboration with other units ensures that care is always adapted to the patient's needs.

WORK DUTIES
At our acute surgery department you will have an exciting, varied, and developmental job with a safe and supportive team behind you. In the department you work with acute care, which involves assessment, monitoring, and care of patients with acute surgical conditions. The work includes, beyond typical nursing tasks, early identification of deterioration, pain management at various levels, fluid treatment, management of various inlets and outlets, as well as care measures based on the patient's current needs, but also preoperative preparations, postoperative care, and much more exciting work. We have well-developed routines and always strive to provide patients with the best possible care.

Beyond patient care, all staff are involved in work on developing and improving both care and the work environment in our unit. Our goal is to provide good and safe care and always start from the patient's needs. Through close teamwork and an integrated work approach, we complement each other and become stronger as a team.
If you are new in your role as a nurse, there is an opportunity to participate in our clinical foundation year. With us you will receive an individually adapted introduction program and experienced staff are available for support, mentoring, and training. There is an opportunity for education and competence development as well as internships within operations that we collaborate with.

We also regularly organize scenario training with various cases and in-house training on relevant topics to enhance both individual and collective competence in the department. The position involves rotating work day and evening shifts. There are also opportunities to work nights once you have become accustomed to the role. Weekend duty is included, two out of five weekends. The department uses an open scheduling system.
QUALIFICATIONS
You who are applying are a licensed nurse with authorization to practice within Swedish healthcare and have Swedish language skills corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale. It is an advantage if you have relevant specialist training and/or previous experience working in an operating department, but we also welcome newly graduated nurses who want to develop with us.

You have a good ability to plan and organize your work and can adjust to different tempos and adapt to the situations you face and prioritize in acute situations.
