Our driving force lies in seeing each patient's needs and helping the patient as a team return to life after life-changing surgery. Department 351 specializes in advanced colorectal care. We primarily care for patients with advanced colorectal cancer or inflammatory bowel disease. Several of the procedures and treatments performed here are offered by only a few—or are unique to—units in the country. We care for both patients who have undergone planned operations and patients who seek emergency care, which means that as a registered nurse you have great opportunity for varied workdays. About the Position As a registered nurse with us, you are responsible for patient care before and after surgery. We work in teams and you collaborate closely with nursing colleagues, nursing assistants, physicians, and other specialized functions. To support nursing staff on the department, we have both advanced specialist nurses and senior nurses. Senior nurses serve as a resource in care. They support new staff and assist with advanced nursing interventions. Our advanced specialist nurses provide continuity of care and help with advanced patient assessments. As a new registered nurse with us, you receive at least six weeks of orientation. We are committed to ensuring that as a new employee you feel confident before working independently, and we always customize orientation based on your individual needs. The department has a strong focus on development and learning, and we hold regular lectures and training sessions for our staff. We have good collaboration with the University of Gothenburg and other universities in the region, and we offer our employees specialist education and relevant courses during work time. We place great emphasis on staff participation and well-being. Therefore, we have scheduled reflection sessions during work time, and as a new registered nurse you will be assigned a mentor who will follow you during your first year. We offer a temporary position of approximately one year with good opportunities for extension or permanent employment. Who Are We Looking For? We are looking for you as a licensed registered nurse. Previous experience in, or education in, surgical care, intermediate care, intensive care, or postoperative care is advantageous but not required. As a person, you are engaged and curious. You feel confident in your role and want to develop as a registered nurse. You have a solution-focused approach and adapt easily to new situations. We also value your willingness to contribute to the development of our operations. We will place great importance on personal suitability. Meet Some of Our Employees - Sahlgrenska University Hospital If you are a newly graduated registered nurse, you will be enrolled in the Clinical Base Year, which is our introduction program. The Clinical Base Year is mandatory and lasts throughout the first year of your employment with us. The Clinical Base Year includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at our Simulator Center. In addition, you will work at least two different departments to broaden your competence. In the event of recruitment of nurses/physicians with foreign licensure/specialist credentials, the relevant position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licensure/specialist credentials.
